2024 Heisman Trophy Odds & Picks | College Football Betting
The Heisman Trophy race is wide open this year, with a few top contenders and many long-shot candidates offering attractive betting odds. Given the nature of the Heisman and its history of surprising finalists, bettors are encouraged to speculate on longer odds players, as these can yield cashouts with the books hedging themselves prior to the ceremony. Additionally, the subjective nature of the voting can create opportunities for unexpected players to emerge as strong candidates.
Jalen Milroe (QB, Alabama) | +1400
Jalen Milroe, the fourth-most favored Heisman Trophy candidate, finished sixth in last season’s voting. Being part of the Alabama Crismon Tide is beneficial, and the arrival of head coach Kalen DeBoer from Washington, who previously coached Michael Penix to a Heisman runner-up finish, is promising. With new offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan, who also has ties to DeBoer, Milroe is expected to throw more this season.
Despite losing some key weapons, Alabamaโs strong recruiting ensures he will have capable receivers. Milroeโs position in the Heisman race is strengthened by Alabamaโs potential for a strong season.
Shedeur Sanders (QB, Colorado) | +3500
The Colorado signal-caller is another intriguing candidate. Despite the Buffaloes’ struggles late last season, Sheduer Sanders showed Heisman Trophy potential early on. This year, with an improved offensive line and another year in the system, he could excel. If Colorado competes for playoff spots or remains in the conversation, Sanders at 35-1 odds may become a strong contender. His performance in the first few games will be crucial, especially with a favorable early schedule. NFL scouts already view him as a potential first-round pick, which adds to his Heisman appeal.
Carson Beck (QB, Georgia) | +750
Carson Beck, favored at +750, presents strong value. Georgia, considered one of the best teams in the country, has two significant road tests this season against Alabama and Texas. If Beck leads Georgia to victories in these games, his Heisman case will be strong. Despite losing key players, the Bulldogs’ deep roster โ including top transfers like Dominic Lovett and Rara Thomas, ensures Beck has the support needed to succeed. Bettors are advised to hold onto the quarterback’s bets throughout the season, as his performance in key games could cement his Heisman Trophy candidacy.
Dark Horse Candidate: Travis Hunter (CB/WR, Colorado) | +6500
Travis Hunter is highlighted as a candidate due to his dual-threat capability, playing on both sides of the ball. At 65-1 odds, Hunterโs unique skillset makes him an intriguing longshot candidate. Despite a setback last season due to injury, his ability to impact games significantly when healthy makes him a player to watch. If Colorado performs well, Hunter could attract attention and possibly move up in the Heisman Trophy race.
