2025 College Football Week 10 Preview: Best Bets & Devy Fantasy Football Storylines

by Phil Cartlich

As we enter November and the business end of the 2025 College Football season, every snap now carries postseason weight. With the new straight seeding model for the College Football Playoff (CFP), the top four overall seeds will earn first-round byes, while seeds 5–8 host the opening games. The five highest-ranked conference champions receive automatic bids, meaning that conference title races have never mattered more.

Margins are razor-thin, and in a year when parity reigns supreme, one turnover, one kick or one play could swing an entire playoff berth.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a 2025 College Football week without another headline coaching departure. This time, LSU pulled the plug on Brian Kelly following a humiliating home loss to Texas A&M. The Tigers led at halftime before surrendering 35 unanswered points, leaving the fan base restless and the administration decisive. Kelly’s buyout, a reported $53 million, won’t sting as much as the lack of on-field progress. LSU’s transfer-heavy roster looks disjointed. The wide receiver corps lacks explosiveness. The offensive line is underperforming, rendering the running game ineffective, and the defense can’t stop the bleeding.

With a bye this week, the Tigers have a chance to regroup before a daunting trip to Tuscaloosa to face a red-hot Alabama. The next interim coach’s challenge? Simply keeping this locker room together.

Week 10 Games of the Week & Devy Storylines to Watch

Penn State Nittany Lions @ Ohio State Buckeyes (1)

Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio – Saturday, Nov. 1

Betting Odds:  Ohio State -20.5 | Total:  43.5

Both teams are returning from bye weeks, but the similarities stop there. Ohio State (7–0) looks every bit the nation’s No. 1 team. Defensively, the Buckeyes have been suffocating under coordinator Matt Patricia, possibly even better than last year’s championship-winning unit. On offense, freshman RB Bo Jackson continues to emerge, climbing over CJ Donaldson and James Peoples in the rotation. Ohio State’s quarterback Julian Sayin has been clinical, distributing the ball to a loaded receiver room headlined by Jeremiah Smith (49-602-7) and Carnell Tate (34-587-6). Throw in Brandon Inniss, Mylan Graham and freshman Quincy Porter, plus tight ends Max Klare and Will Kacmarek, and it’s an embarrassment of riches.

Meanwhile, Penn State has spiraled after losing four straight, a skid that cost Head Coach James Franklin his job. Their challenge is particularly steep without QB Drew Allar, who is sidelined with a season-ending ankle injury. Freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer will make his first start and lean heavily on running backs Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton. Singleton’s stock has cooled after inconsistent tape, while Allen’s physical, no-nonsense running has quietly made him the more reliable option.

My Picks

Ohio State -20.5

Total Under 43.5

Ohio State -20.5 feels steep, but the Buckeyes have covered in five of their last six. Add in that Penn State is without Drew Allar and with an interim coaching staff?! Bet on Ohio State to cover and the game to stay under 43.5 points, given the Nittany Lions’ offensive limitations.

Georgia Bulldogs (5) @ Florida Gators

EverBank Stadium, Jacksonville, Fla. – Saturday, Nov. 1

Betting Odds:  Georgia -7.5 | Total:  50.5

The post-Billy Napier era begins for the Gators, with Billy Gonzalez stepping in as interim coach. Florida has dropped three of four games against ranked opponents this year and now faces a Georgia squad that’s owned this rivalry, winning four straight.

Bulldogs QB Gunner Stockton was electric in their 43-35 win over Ole Miss, tossing four touchdowns before the bye. Tight end Lawson Luckie caught three of them, perhaps marking the breakout Georgia fans have waited for since Brock Bowers departed. Luckie is draft-eligible and his stock could soar if he keeps stacking performances like that.

For Florida, the spotlight shifts to true freshman WRs Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown. Wilson has three touchdowns in as many games since returning from injury, while Brown has been a steady chain-mover from the slot with 451 yards on 32 catches. Keeping these two on campus will be priority No. 1 for whoever takes the permanent head coaching job.

My Picks

Georgia -7.5

Georgia enters this matchup rested and trending upward after a much-needed offensive breakout against Ole Miss. Gunner Stockton looks increasingly comfortable running the Bulldogs’ attack, and Georgia’s scoring potential is climbing. Florida is in transition, with an interim staff and a young roster, so expecting a sudden turnaround against a top-five opponent feels ambitious. Given Georgia’s continuity, deeper talent and momentum, they’re well-positioned to control this game from start to finish. This spread of 7.5 points still feels short of where these teams currently are.

Devy Spotlight:  An Oregon Duck Freshman Special

Dakorien Moore (WR, Oregon Ducks; 2028)

Dakorien Moore has been as advertised. A smooth, explosive receiver who combines polish with big-play capability. He’s already a featured weapon in Oregon, thriving as both a vertical threat and a yards-after-catch machine. Moore plays bigger than his frame thanks to elite body control, long arms and natural hands that expand his catch radius. A track star with verified 10.4-second 100-meter speed, he eats up cushion and wins with sudden acceleration. His nuanced route pacing and stop-start explosiveness make him nearly unguardable in space. With continued physical development, Dakorien Moore projects as one of college football’s premier receivers and a future early-round NFL pick.

Jordon Davison (RB, Oregon Ducks; 2028)

Jordon Davison has quickly emerged as the Ducks’ short-yardage hammer, leading all freshmen nationally in touchdowns. Built to punish defenders, he’s a decisive, north-south runner who finishes every carry with authority. His balance through contact and one-cut efficiency make him dangerous in tight quarters, yet he flashes enough burst to bounce plays outside. Jordon Davison is also a capable receiver, comfortable on screens or flexed into the slot, adding versatility to Oregon’s offense. As a consistent pass protector and physical tone-setter, the freshman profiles as an every-down back and his breakout 102-yard game against Wisconsin was a glimpse of the three-down NFL potential evaluators already see.

Dierre Hill Jr.  (RB, Oregon Ducks; 2028)

The lightning to Jordon Davison’s thunder, Dierre Hill Jr. has been a revelation for Oregon. A true freshman with elite burst and agility, he’s dynamic both as a runner and receiver, already tallying 357 yards and three rushing touchdowns. His quick acceleration through contact and vision in traffic are reminiscent of former Duck Bucky Irving. However, Hill adds even more top-end speed. Also able to contribute as a pass-catcher and already boasting a receiving touchdown this year, Dierre Hill brings game-breaking potential to every touch. His skill set screams modern NFL fit, and devy managers should have him circled as an early-round target in upcoming supplemental drafts.

2025 Heisman Trophy Outlook

For the first time this season, the Heisman top five remains unchanged. Marcel Reed’s odds were sliced in half following his dazzling performance in Texas A&M’s win over LSU, while Diego Pavia’s underdog story continues as he leads Vanderbilt to its best AP ranking since 1937.
