In the Scope Targets: Dynasty Stashes for 2024

by IBT Media Staff

Welcome to another edition of “In the Scope,” the only post-waiver wire articles series aimed to get managers a week ahead of the competition. While we usually highlight redraft free agent finds that can be added for $0 Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) or after the initial run clears, most waivers in one-year leagues are far less competitive this time of year, as most teams are eliminated from title contention. Therefore, this week’s free agent finds will feature dynasty stashes to roster ahead of the 2024 season.

In the Scope Targets: Dynasty Stashes for 2024

As the season winds down and dynasty managers look toward the future, here are a few players worth stashing at the end of your bench in anticipation of the 2024 season.

Tyler Huntley (QB, Baltimore Ravens) | 26% Rostered

Just 25 years old and set to become an Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA) after this season, Tyler Huntley is an intriguing dynasty stash. With a career competition rate of 65.5%, he has showcased potential with two comebacks and game-winning drives in eight regular season starts. This could make him an enticing option for teams in need of a change at quarterback.

A dual threat, Huntley demonstrated his rushing prowess in college and has averaged 46.1 rushing yards in his nine NFL starts (including a 2022 playoff start). The only quarterbacks to average more than that per game this season are Lamar Jackson and Justin Fields. Could he become a bridge QB for a team like the Falcons or Steelers?

Deuce Vaughn (RB, Dallas Cowboys) | 73% Rostred

A rookie from Kansas State, Deuce Vaughn is a 5-foot-6, 176-pound dynamo drafted by the Cowboys in the sixth round. Vaughn had an impressive college career, including nearly 3,000 rushing yards and 34 total TDs in his sophomore and senior seasons. The son of the Cowboys’ assistant director of scouting, Chris Vaughn, he also excels as a receiving back with 93 receptions in those two seasons.

Despite being supplanted as the change-of-pace back early in the season, Vaughn could be a valuable dynasty stash to have rostered if the Cowboys choose not to retain Tony Pollard, who will be a UFA unless franchise tagged again, or Rico Dowdle, a Restricted Free Agent (RFA).

Tyler Scott (WR, Chicago Bears) | 44% Rostered

Flying under the radar this season, Tyler Scott is a player with untapped potential. Drafted in the fourth round, Scott had a standout season at Cincinnati, catching 54 passes for 899 yards and nine TDs as a junior in 2022. Known for making big plays, he boasted a high touchdown-to-target rate.

With Darnell Mooney‘s contract expiring after this year, Scott could step into the No. 2 WR role for the Bears, potentially offering big-play potential for Justin Fields or a rookie QB (if the Bears choose to go in that direction). Keep an eye on Scott, who had his best game of the season in Week 15, catching three of four targets for 49 yards.

As the fantasy season nears its end, strategic moves can set the stage for future success. Consider these dynasty stashes as you plan for the 2024 season.
