2024 Iowa Corn 350 Betting Picks

  • Christopher Bell (+400)
  • Ryan Blaney (+1000)
  • Martin Truex Jr. (+1000)

Christopher Bell (+400)

This is a very juicy outright to take, especially at a new track where the Cup Series has never raced before in Iowa Speedway. But with how great Christopher Bell has been on these kinds of tracks this year, even a +400 on DraftKings is in the conversation.

The No. 20 is far and away the best on shorter-flat tracks in ifantasyrace.com‘s total speed ranking metric, averaging a 3.3 in the trio of these races we’ve had in 2024. Gateway was the most recent of those races, and Bell was almost certainly an engine issue away from claiming the victory. Bell also took home the checkered flag at Phoenix in the spring and two of the most recent trio of Xfinity Series races held at Iowa.

Ryan Blaney (+1000)

Even though Joey Logano (+850 on DraftKings if you were interested) is the king of the new tracks, I like his Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney much more at +1000. Though Richmond wasn’t spectacular for the No. 12 team, the other pair of short flats were some of Blaney’s best races of the season.

Of course, we all remember Gateway, where Blaney ran out of fuel on the last lap of the race. Still, Blaney also ran P5 at Phoenix, where he also won the 2023 Cup Series Championship, running second last fall. Blaney also won an Xfinity Series race at Iowa in 2015 and a Truck Series race in 2012.

Martin Truex Jr. (+1000)

The series’ newest retiree-to-be, Martin Truex Jr., is also one of the series’ best on shorter-flat tracks. The No. 19 had a pit issue at Gateway that put them behind the eight-ball, but top-seven finishes at both Richmond (P4) and Phoenix (P7) give me much more faith in a +1000 outright on DraftKings. He hasn’t raced at all at Iowa, but neither has a large portion of the Cup Series entry list Sunday.

In the total speed ranking metric over the last two seasons (nine races), Truex Jr. has been either the best or second-best on the shorter-flat tracks three times, with an additional No. 4 and No. 8 ranking as well.
