NASCAR DFS Picks, Tiers & Rankings: 2023 High Point 400

Pocono TiersDriver As | Fast Thoughts

Since 2020, Kyle Busch has crossed the finish line in an average position of 1.7. After also leading in every advanced metric I weighed (courtesy of ifantasyrace.com) at Pocono last season, Busch is my NASCAR DFS anchor for the fair price of $10,500 on DraftKings and $24.22 on Fantrax. Denny Hamlin is right up there with him, holding the best starting position at Pocono among active drivers and scoring six (should’ve been seven) career wins.

Ross Chastain could’ve won this race last season but was hit by an untimely caution after leading 26 laps. He’s in play, and so is William Byron, who has the best pit crew and continues to unload rocket ships.

Driver Bs | Fast Thoughts

Kevin Harvick has five runner-up finishes here. While he may not have the horsepower needed to win in his No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Mustang, he should run inside the top 10 once again.

Don’t sleep on Chris Buescher, a former Pocono winner, who has an average finish of 10.4 over his last eight races. And if you’re looking for a NASCAR DFS leverage play, look no further than Erik Jones, who has an average finish of 10.0 on his last three ovals and a ridiculous 54% T5 rate at Pocono.

Driver Cs | Fast Thoughts

This entire tier feels risky, and I will likely avoid it by taking high-priced drivers and dart throws. Both 23XI Racing drivers Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick finished inside the top 10 here last season. They’re a bit too pricy for my NASCAR DFS lineups, but they should have the infamous Toyota late-run speed that we’ve seen all year long.

Driver Ds | Fast Thoughts

Austin Dillon came through last week with a T10. He has a respectable 18.0 average finish at Pocono, and 13 T20s in 17 Cup Series starts. If you’re looking for a value NASCAR DFS leverage play this week, can I interest you in Michael McDowell? The No. 34 car is only $6,000 on DraftKings, despite an 11.3 average finish over his last six races.

Driver Fs | Fast Thoughts

The F Tier is brutal this week, too. However, it’s hard to go wrong with Justin Haley ($6,400 on DraftKings) and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ($6,200 on DraftKings), considering they’re both averaging over 31 NASCAR DFS points per race.
