NASCAR DFS Picks, Tiers & Rankings: 2023 Quaker State 400

Driver As | Fast Thoughts

The top tier is loaded this week. Ross Chastain placed second at both Atlanta races last season and is building momentum. Brad Keselowski led 47 laps and nearly won in the spring over Joey Logano. Kyle Busch scored a T10 that day and is the hottest driver in NASCAR DFS lineups, posting a T10 in six-straight point races. Chase Elliott won this race last season and finished sixth in the 2022 spring race. However, he hasn’t run Atlanta yet this year due to injury.

Driver Bs | Fast Thoughts

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s advanced metrics are off the charts at superspeedways since 2022. He remains a NASCAR DFS value on DraftKings at $7,900 and Fantrax at $19.02. Christopher Bell is a tough driver to get right and hasn’t posted a T5 since winning Bristol Dirt. Still, he finished sixth here in the spring, leading six laps. He was also tied for second in total speed rankings (courtesy of ifantasyrace.com).

Driver Cs | Fast Thoughts

Corey Lajoie’s best track is Atlanta, by far. He’s finished with a T5 in two of his last three races here and nearly won the one he didn’t, last year’s Quaker State 400. However, the No. 7 will likely be chalky. Justin Haley is coming off a huge week in Chicago and finished 11th and seventh at Atlanta in 2022. He also has had good superspeedway speed more times than not since 2022. Don’t discredit Erik Jones, whose average finish is 8.7 at the reconfigured Atlanta. He’s a definite NASCAR DFS value at $7,000 on DraftKings.

Driver Ds | Fast Thoughts

Cole Custer is back in the Cup Series and finished ninth at last year’s Quaker State 400.  He’s the minimum $5 on Fantrax and $5,600 on DraftKings. A.J. Allmendinger finished 16th in the spring and could be a sneaky NASCAR DFS leverage play.

Driver Fs | Fast Thoughts

I’d very much like to avoid the F Tier completely this week by building a more balanced lineup. If I have to dip down here, it’s for Todd Gilliland. He finished 16th at Atlanta in the spring and is still averaging 27.4 NASCAR DFS points per race this year. That’s a fair shot for the cost of $5,100 on DraftKings and $14.25 on Fantrax.
