The clocks at Pocono Raceway following the NASCAR Truck Series race Friday all matched up – it was “Heim Time” once again. Corey Heim won his fifth race of the season in the No. 11 Tricon Garage truck at Pocono’s CRC Brakleen 175 to continue a dominant 2024 season.
Pocono Truck Series Winner Corey Heim Fights For Every Opportunity
“We’ve just been so solid this year from start to finish,” Heim said in his post-race press conference. He’s won four of the last seven races in the series and has only finished outside of the top 10 in two races all year.
“Wins are definitely everything in this sport,” Heim said. “We’ve definitely got that down.”
The impressive performances in each of the last two seasons in the Truck Series have speculation rising that Heim could be up for a full-time ride in either the Xfinity Series or Cup Series sooner rather than later. The potential of that doesn’t affect the way Heim goes about his business on track, however.
“I’ve always been the type of driver to take it one week at a time throughout my career,” Heim said. “I’ve learned to fight for every opportunity and every race.”
Heim earned the opportunity to race once again at Pocono for Sam Hunt Racing in the Xfinity Series. He’s earned a pair of top-five finishes already in 2024 racing the No. 26. The strong performances at NASCAR’s second-highest level will no doubt further help his future prospects.
“I hope (people are thinking) good things,” Heim said. “It’s been a good year for me.”
Regardless of where Heim’s future in the sport lies, he continues to compete at a high level each chance he gets behind the wheel.
“Even if I was guaranteed the perfect scenario for the (future), I’m still gonna go out and race my next race like it’s my last one,” Heim said. “It’s definitely tough, but that’s just the nature of it.”
