Andre Braugher, famous for his appearances in “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” as well as many other projects, has passed away.
The response on Twitter, and social media in general, has been overwhelmingly uplifting and would certainly bring a smile to the face of a man who brought incredible entertainment to people’s lives.
While he portrayed many characters, perhaps none is as iconic as Captain Raymond Holt. Playing the Captain of the Nine-Nine, he was inimitable. He brought heart to a show that needed someone to ground it, and then he took the top off with his comedic abilities.
And I’ll admit, my first reaction to his passing was sadness. My friends and I love Braugher’s stoic Holt. To lose someone who brought us so much joy was difficult. But, to mourn would be a disservice to what Captain Raymond Jacob Holt stood for. Instead, we want to remember the laughs, and that’s what I plan to do here.
I have scoured every “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” episode and have come up with the definitive 10 best Captain Holt moments.
So, I say this: Rest easy, Andre Braugher, our Captain – An actor, an inspiration, an icon.
