Super Bowl LVIII Novelty Prop Bets: Odds, Picks & Predictions

by Matt Kelley

The Super Bowl is one of my favorite days of the year. There’s food, booze, friends and goofy commercials. There’s also the opportunity to cash in, betting on anything that might happen from when the broadcast starts until it ends. Let’s get into some of the most fun Super Bowl LVIII novelty bets to consider!

Super Bowl LVIII Novelty Prop Bets: Odds, Picks & Predictions

Gatorade Bath Color

Odds
  • Yellow/Green (+275)
  • Red (+300)
  • Purple (+325)
  • Blue (+350)
  • Orange (+350)
  • Clear/Water (+400)
  • No Liquid To Be Poured On Winning Coach (+1600)

Once the game’s outcome is known, two offensive linemen are usually waiting to douse their head coach with a tub of Gatorade.

Andy Reid was drenched in purple and orange Gatorade in his last two Super Bowl victories. The orange came when the Chiefs beat the San Fransisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54. If you like the Chiefs to win, their players likely want to repeat that history, and orange sits at +350.

Conversely, the 49ers like to coordinate everything with their colors, down to the boombox when they walk out of the tunnel. If you like the 49ers to win on Sunday, red Gatorade sits at +300.

Matt’s Pick: Orange (+350) & Red (+300)

National Anthem Length

Odds
  • Over 90.5 Seconds (-120)
  • Under 90.5 Seconds (-120)

Reba McEntire has the distinction of singing the national anthem this year. The current over/under sits at 90.5 seconds.

I did a YouTube dive, and McEntire performed the anthem in 1999 at a football game, and it clocks in right at the 90-second mark. In 1997, she also performed at the World Series, and that rendition is closer to 88 seconds. Either way, Reba seems like she’ll have a pretty straightforward rendition. I like the under.

Matt’s Pick: Under 90.5 Seconds (-120)

Usher’s First Song

Odds
  • “Caught Up” (-500)
  • “My Way” (-500)
  • “OMG” (+150)
  • “Yeah!” (+200)
  • “Scream” (+600)
  • “Love in the Club” (+800)
  • “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” (+800)

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from where his residency at Park MGM was, Usher will take the halftime stage.

Bet Us has Alicia Keys at -1000 and Ludacris at -5000 to join Usher on stage for his performance, meaning you’re probably either having a flashback to your “Now That’s What I Call Music” CD collection, or you’re too young for that reference.

The song he starts with is where some lines are moving. Bet Us had “My Way” at even money. As of Feb. 9, the odds for Usher to begin with “My Way” are at -500. They also have “OMG” at +150, which is a bit more known and up-tempo. I like the plus odds on “OMG” if you don’t want to play into the favorite.

Matt’s Pick: “OMG” (+500)

Longest Air Yards From a Single Reception

Odds

This bet is not for the faint of heart. It also should be placed after a whiskey or two. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is currently at +450 at BetUs to have the longest air yards from a single reception in Super Bowl LVIII. “MVS” had a reception of 32 yards in both the Divisional round and Conference Championship.

The only player on either team with a longer reception this postseason is Brandon Aiyuk, who caught a 50+ yard bomb that doinked off another player’s helmet.

There are a lot of explosive players in this game, and anyone could catch a rocket. However, in the words of Dwight Schrute, “It’s the person I most medium expect.” That’s Valdes-Scantling.

Matt’s Pick: Marquez Valdes-Scantling (+500)
