In the Scope Targets: Top Fantasy Football Week 8 Free Agent Finds
Chris Rodriguez (RB, Washington Commanders) | 0.2% Rostered
Chris Rodriguez might not have garnered much preseason attention, but his performance at Kentucky was nothing short of impressive. A consistent top-10 back in the SEC in terms of rushing yardage, Rodriguez possesses the qualities of a power back, excelling in short-yardage situations.
Despite not having a profile that wowed scouts, the Commanders have recently begun to utilize him more effectively. He received four carries in Week 6 and an additional seven in Week 7. What’s particularly significant is that Rodriguez led the team in red zone touches with two against the Giants. For reference, Washington’s RB2 Antonio Gibson‘s season total is five.
This uptick in usage could be indicative of the Commanders looking at Rodriguez as a potential replacement for Gibson, who is rumored to be on the trade block. Stash Rodriguez after the Week 8 waiver wire runs until the NFL Trade Deadline passes on Oct. 31 to see how this situation unfolds.
Kyler Murray (QB, Arizona Cardinals) | 22.6% Rostered
Kyler Murray‘s return to the field could be right around the corner. The Cardinals have until Nov. 8 to activate him to the 53-man roster. Murray resumed practice last week, and all signs point to a strong desire from the Cardinals to get him back into action. Head coach Jonathan Gannon has expressed satisfaction with Murray’s progress, both in terms of his physical recovery from the ACL injury and his mental readiness to run new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing’s system.
While he’s currently rostered in some leagues if by any chance he’s available in yours, it’s time to snatch him up. Murray’s potential return could be a game-changer for fantasy managers. He’s averaged at least 17.8 fantasy points per game in each of his first four seasons. So survey your waiver wire and act swiftly if he’s there for the taking.
