2024 Cook Out 400 Betting Picks: Outrights

  • Martin Truex Jr. (+450)
  • Denny Hamlin (+600)
  • Brad Keselowski (+1400)

Martin Truex Jr. (+450)

The Olympic break came at the perfect time for Martin Truex Jr. and the No. 19 team. He finished three of the four races leading into the summer hiatus P24 or worse. It’s a good thing Richmond is one of Truex Jr.’s best tracks in recent years, earning him joint-best odds to win on DraftKings at +450.

It wasn’t that long ago that the No. 19 dominated the race this past spring, leading 228 laps before getting bit by a late caution. Truex Jr. has a trio of wins at Richmond and has finished T10 in half of his starts here. He hasn’t been worse than P11 since hopping into the No. 19.

Denny Hamlin (+600)

The driver who “stole” the victory from Truex Jr. on Easter Sunday was Denny Hamlin, who surprisingly is not the favorite this weekend at a +600 outright. Richmond is special to Hamlin – the Virginia native has a pair of victories in the Next Gen car there and five wins in total.

With how strong Hamlin’s season has been, the No. 11 team will be excited to get back on track in a place as good to them as Richmond has been. Hamlin has 19 T5 finishes here; that’s nearly 55 of his total Richmond starts!

Brad Keselowski (+1400)

The “longshot” of the weekend is Brad Keselowski, but it would surprise few if he can earn a victory at Richmond. The odds of +1400 on DraftKings are more than a fair price for how strong Keselowski has run here in recent years.

The No. 6 has finished T10 in the last trio of Richmond races, including a P8 in the spring. Keselowski has a pair of wins here, and T10s in over half of his Richmond starts. Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing has been strong as of late here as well; Keselowski led 102 laps in Chris Buescher’s late-summer victory last year.
