2024 Cook Out 400 Betting Picks
Martin Truex Jr. (+750)
As I mentioned last week (correctly, I might add) only a fool wouldn’t pick a Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) driver to win on a short track in 2024. The team’s odds are more split up this week, however, and Martin Truex Jr. is my top JGR pick this week at +750 via DraftKings Sportsbook.
Perhaps the king of getting races stolen from him at the last minute, it hasn’t stopped Truex Jr. from earning a trio of wins and pole awards at Martinsville. He’s led over 1,000 laps here and was third in last spring’s race. A pissed-off and motivated driver behind the wheel also makes him my favorite pick of the weekend.
Joey Logano (+1100)
It’s been a relatively miserable year for Ford, but Joey Logano’s runner-up finish at Richmond shows some light at the end of the tunnel.
The No. 22 has finished no worse than sixth at Martinsville in the Next Gen era, including a pair of runner-up finishes. Logano took home a grandfather clock in 2018, and he may have had another if not for Matt Kenseth intervening in 2015.
Ross Chastain (+2500)
My best-of-the-rest pick for the week is Ross Chastain, at odds of +2500.
Though he can’t pull off another Hail Melon to improve his running position at Martinsville, a pair of 2022 T5s and 2023 T15s at “the paper clip” show some optimism.
