Tootsie’s Picks: NFL Week 5 PrizePicks Player Predictions (2024)

by Rachel (@tootsiepop6)

Coming into Week 5, we have four teams on byes: The Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, and Tennessee Titans. It’s that time when we have to be even more strategic with our fantasy football teams and even more sly when it comes to prop bets. Injuries are affecting every NFL team, and so many starters are sidelined. But on the upside, there’s still cash to be made (You should know by now if it’s a Tootsie piece, there’s always an upside). Here are my best NFL Week 5 PrizePicks player predictions!

NFL Week 5 PrizePicks Player Predictions

Sam Darnold (QB, Minnesota Vikings) LESS Than 222.5 Passing Yards

The undefeated Minnesota Vikings are heading to London this weekend to face the Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets. With a point total for this game set at 40 and Vikings favored at -142, it’s anticipated to be close and low-scoring. These two defenses have been nothing to snooze at this season; they terrorize the opposing team against all odds. With this game, we will find out which one gets the last word.

Historically, these NFL International games tend to be low-scoring. The point total under has hit in the last four London games. Because of this, I’m taking the under on quarterback Sam Darnold‘s passing yards.

This season, Darnold has hit the under on this line in the Week 1 game against the New York Giants and Week 3’s game against the Houston Texans. The Vikings will lean on running back Aaron Jones, who’s averaging 80.3 rushing yards per game, to move the chains.  Despite the receiving options Darnold has in Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Jalen Nailor, this game will be all Jones. In Week 4, Jones faced his former team, the Green Bay Packers. Now, in Week 5, he faces his former quarterback, Rodgers. It’s revenge time times two. Darnold gets to relax his throwing arm in this game. Take the under on this PrizePicks prop.

Jauan Jennings (WR, San Francisco 49ers) MORE Than 43.5 Receiving Yards

Sometimes, when a starter misses a game due to injury, we see depth chart talent rise up and fill the void. Then, when the starter returns, they return to being depth chart fodder. I attest that isn’t the case for San Francisco 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings this season. He filled in admirably when his teammate Deebo Samuel was out due to a calf injury in Week 3. Jennings lodged a whopping 175 receiving yards on 11 receptions in that game. Then, in Week 4, upon Samuel’s return, Jennings had 88 receiving yards on three receptions. He’s not going away: Jennings is a key piece on this offense.

Allowing 151.3 receiving yards per game this season, the Arizona Cardinals will once again let receivers fly, including Jennings this Sunday. The other key receiver on this team is Brandon Aiyuk, who just hasn’t shown the production that he usually does. Not surpassing 50 yards on any game yet, is Aiyuk dropping in the 49ers’ pecking order? Is it now time for Jennings to rise up and be given the respect he deserves? I say yes, and I’m smashing the over on this PrizePicks prop.

Najee Harris (RB, Pittsburgh Steelers) MORE Than 57.5 Rushing Yards

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris has a low prop line this week of 57.5 rushing yards. Having the backfield all to himself due to injuries to Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson, Harris will feast on Sunday. Neither of the backup running backs practiced on Wednesday. We’ll see how things shake out leading up to Sunday if either joins Harris on the field. However, if they do, Harris will still knock this line out without a problem.

The Dallas Cowboys’ defense has allowed an average of 104.8 rushing yards per game this season. Both veteran backs Derrick Henry and Alvin Kamara cut through the Cowboys’ Swiss cheese run defense in their respective games. On Sunday, we will see Harris do the same. Hitting the over on this line in three out of the four games played, the Alabama product has this in the bag. Take it to the bank:  Harris will whomp the over on this PrizePicks prop.
