Tootsie’s Picks: NFL Week 1 PrizePicks Player Predictions (2023)

by Rachel (@tootsiepop6)

And just like that, the NFL regular season is officially underway. If you lost Travis Kelce for your Week 1 fantasy football roster, there is still time to build back that momentum to round out the weekend on a good note. Here are my best PrizePicks player predictions for Sunday’s games:

NFL Week 1 PrizePicks Player Predictions

Tip: Throughout the year, PrizePicks offers discounted lines to give people a “freebie” pick. This week, there’s a discounted line of Dak Prescott 0.5 Passing Yards. Obviously, you’d want to smash the “More” on this line. He only has to pass for 1.0 yard for this to hit.

Ryan Tannehill (QB, Tennessee Titans) LESS Than 226.5 Passing Yards

Last season, Ryan Tannehill averaged 211.3 passing yards in the 12 games he played. The Tennessee Titans are facing the New Orleans Saints this Sunday. The last time Tannehill faced the Saints was in 2021, when he had 213 passing yards. Last year, the Saints’ defense allowed the least amount of passing yards to opposing quarterbacks. In addition, the Titans ran the second least amount of plays per game last year. It’s unlikely Tannehill will be able to overcome the Saints’ defense in the passing game to cover this Prizepicks total.

Justin Jefferson (WR, Minnesota Vikings) MORE Than 0.5 Receiving Touchdowns

Last season, Justin Jefferson had eight receiving touchdowns. Coming into this year, the Vikings no longer have red zone target Adam Thielen on the team and have added Jordan Addison. Since Addison is a rookie, one could expect a slower start from him. The Vikings face the Tampa Bay Buccaneer defense in Week 1, which allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. They also allowed the eighth-most receiving touchdowns to opposing receivers. The Vikings are primed to have a strong firing offense this season. With Jefferson as one of the NFL’s top receivers, I anticipate we’ll see the Griddy at least once on Sunday, cashing this Week 1 Prizepicks line.

Nick Chubb (RB, Cleveland Browns) MORE Than 73.5 Rushing Yards

Last season, Nick Chubb averaged 89.7 rushing yards per game with Kareem Hunt in the running back room. Although the Cleveland Browns face a staunch opponent in the Cincinnati Bengals defense, I predict Chubb to make his case to be one of the top running backs this year. Interestingly, PrizePicks’ line on Chubb has decreased from 90.5 rushing yards seen earlier in the week to 73.5 rushing yards as of publication. Usually, lines become tighter as the week progresses. Take advantage of this sneaky steal!

Remember, with any PrizePicks play, follow your gut on the lines you agree with. Always play responsibly. And always, always make sure you’re having fun with it!
