Week 1 was a tough one for prop bets and fantasy leagues alike. We swallowed the hard pill, realizing that this ride we’re on is nothing but unpredictable. Yet, we get back on the rollercoaster each week, seeking that absolute high, that ultimate thrill. Let’s get back to work. Here are my best NFL Week 2 PrizePicks player predictions.

NFL Week 2 PrizePicks Player Predictions

Mike Evans (WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) MORE Than 70.5 Receiving Yards

At the time of publication, the points total for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Detroit Lions game is at a hefty 51.5. This means it’s expected to be a high-scoring affair. Just off the heels of 61 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders, Mike Evans is looking for another strong showing. Interestingly, Evans was surprisingly the third-most targeted option in the opener, following Chris Godwin and Rachaad White.

This week’s game will paint a different picture. The last time the Buccaneers squared off against the Detroit Lions was in the NFC Divisional Round on Jan. 21, when Evans saw an incredible 147 receiving yards.

Now Detroit safety Kerby Joseph popped up on the injury report this week, and the Lions’ secondary has already struggled against opposing wide receivers. In 2023, they allowed an average of 181.2 receiving yards per game to the position. In last week’s game alone, they gave up 266 receiving yards to the Los Angeles Rams’ receiving corps, 110 of which went solely to veteran Cooper Kupp. Evans – Tampa Bay’s X receiver – will feast against this Detroit defense and exceed 70.5 receiving yards.

The connection between Evans and his quarterback, Baker Mayfield, is undeniable. Smash the over on this PrizePicks prediction.

Matthew Stafford (QB, Los Angeles Rams) MORE Than 261.5 Passing Yards

Speaking of last week’s Lions-Rams game, Matthew Stafford passed for 317 yards despite an injury to star receiver Puka Nacua. Stafford has surpassed this line of 261.5 passing yards in six of his last 10 games. Without Nacua, Stafford is still loaded with offensive weapons. These include Kupp, rising talents in Tyler Johnson and Demarcus Robinson, plus the tight end who took us all by surprise, Colby Parkinson.

Just like last week, this Week 2’s contest against the Arizona Cardinals looks to be another high-scoring game for the Rams. The points total is set at 49.0. There’s long been a rivalry between these two NFC West teams, and both will come out guns blazing and firing on all cylinders. Last season, the Rams came out on top both times these two rivals met up. I expect that to happen again and at the hands of Stafford’s arm.

Last season, the former No. 1-overall pick averaged 270.8 passing yards per game. This line is set too low for Stafford. Hit the over on this PrizePicks prop before the platform moves the needle, as their lines are known to change.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR, Seattle Seahawks) LESS Than 44.5 Receiving Yards

Heading into week 2, the matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots looks to be one of the lower-scoring games per its points total of 38.0. Second-year talent Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been trying to find his stride in the Seahawks’ offense, but he only produced a meager 19 receiving yards last week. As what still appears to be the fourth receiving option,  he will likely have difficulty again this week. In six of his last 10 games played, the under for this line has hit. Over the entire 2023 season, the former Ohio State Buckeye only averaged 36.9 receiving yards per game, so reaching this line seems highly improbable.

Facing the New England Patriots’ defense is no easy feat, either. Last week, they only gave up 99 receiving yards to the Bengals’ receivers. And, let’s be honest, Cincinnati struggled on all accounts in that game. Someone is bound to be left out in a Seattle receiving corps that includes D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. That is, unfortunately, Smith-Njigba right now. In a game script where the point totals will be low, this line of 44.5 receiving yards isn’t in his favor. Take the under on this PrizePicks prop.
