Between Bets: 2024 Daytona 500 Outrights

“Between Bets” is an article series revealing our staff’s best wagers across the NFL, NASCAR and PGA Tour. This week’s bets feature our favorite wagers for the 2024 Daytona 500.

2024 Daytona 500 Betting Picks

• Ryan Blaney (+1200)
• Brad Keselowski (+1200)
• Bubba Wallace (+1800)
• Ross Chastain (+2500)
• Corey LaJoie (+5000)

Ryan Blaney (+1200)

There’s no better place to start than with the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion. Ryan Blaney is undoubtedly one of the series’ best superspeedway racers. He’s got the joint third-best odds to win The Great American Race at +1200 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Blaney has won on superspeedways four times and finished in second place on four other occasions at Daytona and Talladega. The No. 12 team went to victory lane last fall at Talladega in the most recent superspeedway race. They’ll look to do it again to start 2024 just as hot as they ended 2023.

Brad Keselowski (+1200)

Another one of the best drivers on the big ovals is Brad Keselowski. At even odds with Blaney at +1200 on DraftKings, Keselowski will look to finally earn his first win as an owner-driver and finally add a Daytona 500 victory to his resumé. He’s won seven times at superspeedways, though the only Daytona points win was in July 2016. Pushing his teammate Chris Buescher to victory in the summer Daytona race and a pair of top-six Atlanta finishes last year show that the No. 6 is still on the top of its game on the superspeedways.

Bubba Wallace (+1800)

Bubba Wallace feels like a much riskier pick to win this Sunday, as he’s typically boom-or-bust on the superspeedways. His most recent T10 at a superspeedway was the 2022 Daytona 500, and his finishes at each of the two Talladega and Atlanta races last year were all outside the top 20. That said, his No. 23 should be among the best cars, and we know Wallace will do what it takes to get to and stay at the front. At +1800 on DraftKings, he’s a bet well worth considering.

Ross Chastain (+2500)

Another high-risk, high-reward bet is Ross Chastain, currently at +2500 on DraftKings. Drivers like Chastain (and Wallace, among a few others in the field), who are willing to do all it takes to win and then some, can pay big-time dividends. When it doesn’t work out, it generally ends with a trip to the infield care center and the car on the back of a tow truck. His lone T10 on a superspeedway in 2023 was a ninth-place in the 500. The most recent winner of a points race in the Cup Series at Phoenix last fall also won at Talladega in the spring of 2022 and in the Xfinity Series at Daytona in 2019.

Corey LaJoie (+5000)

If you want to throw some coin on a longshot, Corey LaJoie is your man. If he’s going to get a win in the NASCAR Cup Series, it’s going to come at a superspeedway. He’s got the talent and the driving style. Spire Motorsports and his No. 7 team are improving both on and off the track (LaJoie’s car will be sponsored by national restaurant chain Chili’s). LaJoie also had two top fives and a 10th-place finish on the superspeedways last year.
