Emerging Fantasy Quarterbacks To Watch in 2024

by Stacey Cochran

The 2023 fantasy football season is coming to an end. For some, a season that started with dreams of a league championship has turned into a nightmare of defeat. But instead of Freddy Kruger, it was Amari Cooper and a 53-point night to end your championship run. Now, we can sit here and try to explain away this nightmare that doesn’t want to end. But what good will come from that? Rather than wallow, we can start looking to 2024 and see which fantasy quarterbacks are ready to lead us back to the top of our league!

Here are three quarterbacks that we like for the 2024 season. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a redraft league or a dynasty league; either way, you need to be looking ahead so you are ready to make a move when that time comes. Being prepared doesn’t guarantee you’ll get these players come draft day, but I’d hate to think I missed out on a winning quarterback because I didn’t do my homework.

So, with that research in mind, these are some quarterbacks who put up a solid performance in 2023, as evidenced by their average fantasy points per game and are poised to do even better in 2024. Let’s get into it!

Emerging Fantasy Quarterbacks To Watch in 2024

(Data compiled from ESPN.com and FantasyData.com)

Jordan Love (QB, Green Bay Packers) | 18.8 Fantasy Points per Game

In his third season with the Packers, Jordan Love got handed the wheel and has steered the Packers possibly into a wild card spot. Questions and doubts surrounded Love at the beginning of the 2023 season. However, I don’t believe that there are any doubters now. Over his last eight games, Love has been the QB5 and averaged 20.8 fantasy points per game. That’s not bad for a young man whose arm strength was questioned by many.

Looking at the weapons he will be throwing to in the 2024 season also has me excited. Sophomores Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson are two up-and-coming wide receivers in the league. Between those two and rookies Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, the wide receiver position is stellar. However, that’s not all. Throw in their two rookie tight ends, Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave, and they may have one of the best receiving corps on the rise across the league.

Regardless of how this season finishes for Love and the Packers, look to acquire Love for the 2024 season. It might come in a dynasty trade, or you may get the chance to draft him in a redraft league. However you have to do it, get him! I could definitely see him once again being a top-10 fantasy quarterback in 2024.

C.J. Stroud (QB, Houston Texans) | 18.2 Fantasy Points per Game

With the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans took C.J. Stroud, and what a fine pick it was! Stroud has been outstanding in his rookie season, and there is speculation he’ll be named Rookie of the Year (ROTY). In his last eight games, Stroud averaged 19.1 fantasy points, making him the QB8 during that stretch. With one more game to play, Stroud is looking to get some rookie luck and lead his team into a wildcard playoff spot. All eyes will be on the young leader to see how he finishes the season.

The Texans also have two standout wide receivers in Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Heading into the 2024 season, look for Stroud to keep connecting with them to move the offense down the field. And we can’t forget tight ends Dalton Schultz and Brevin Jordan, both of whom will be key assets in a successful 2024 season.

Some didn’t think Stroud had the properties to be a top NFL quarterback coming out of Ohio State. However, in 14 games, he has thrown for over 3,800 yards, 21 touchdowns and only five interceptions. In my book, he has everything he needs to be a top-10 quarterback in fantasy in 2024.

Anthony Richardson (QB, Indianapolis Colts) | 18.2 Fantasy Points per Game

Anthony Richardson only played in four games this season. However, those four games showed us what could be the beginnings of a fabulous career. During the 2023 NFL Draft, the biggest question was whether Richardson had enough starts as a quarterback to play in the pros. His first three games put all doubt about his playing time right out the window. Richardson came in, took the first snap and didn’t look back. Was everything perfect in those first games? No. But he showed he had enough knowledge and skill to lead to victory.

For their 2024 outlook, the weapons on this team are plentiful. Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce and rookie Josh Downs lead the wide receiver room for the Colts. Add Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss (if he returns) in the running back position, and you have a strong offense that can win games.

There is some uncertainty around how Richardson will be after his shoulder surgery rehab. Yet, with his potential as a rushing quarterback, it would be hard to pass on him for 2024. Though there are concerns he might be injury-prone, I wouldn’t sleep on him. If you do, you might have another dream season turn into a nightmare when he goes off during a championship game.

This was just a start looking into what could be for the 2024 season and what’s to come for these fantasy quarterbacks! I hope you find the right QB to lead you to your championships in 2024, and I wish you good luck hunting!
