Fantasy football championship week is here! After 16 weeks of watching the waiver wire and picking a quarterback streamer here and there, it’s time for the win. Making it to the championships is no easy task. However, it’s not over yet. We have one more week to prove who deserves the trophy.
Each week, we will be looking at players who are rostered in 40% or fewer leagues using ESPN data.
Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers: Week 17 (2023)
Derek Carr (QB, New Orleans Saints) | 22.4% Rostered
The Saints are still in the hunt for a wildcard spot. Their chances are getting slim, but Derek Carr is looking to find that last spot. Carr completed 27 of 40 passes for 319 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, totaling 25 fantasy points against the Los Angeles Rams last week. Once again, his top wide receiver over the last three games is Chris Olave, with a 20.2% target share during the time. Alvin Kamara also has a 16.9% target share during the same time.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will welcome the Saints to town for a divisional game on Sunday. The Saints are just a game behind the Buccaneers, who sit at the top of the NFC South. The Buccaneers are giving up an average of 282 passing yards and 18.3 fantasy points to the quarterback position per game. This matchup might be the shootout that you need to win your championship. Too much is on the line for this game, making Carr my top quarterback streamer for this weekend.
Nick Mullens (QB, Minnesota Vikings) | 12.5% Rostered
Just like the Saints, the Vikings are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. Nick Mullens has stepped up to breathe life into the Vikings and give them hope for a spot in the postseason. Mullens made 22 of 36 passes for 411 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions to finish the day with 16.5 fantasy points. Since his return from injury, Justin Jefferson has led this team with a 23% target share over the last three games. T.J. Hockenson will be out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL and MCL, but Mullens will have plenty of targets and weapons, with Jordan Addison hopefully active and K.J. Osborn.
The Green Bay Packers will travel to Minnesota for this divisional matchup among playoff-hopeful teams. The Packers are allowing an average of 225 passing yards and 15.4 fantasy points per game to the quarterback position. All season, the Vikings have been a relentless team. They have not given up, even after losing Kirk Cousins for the season. Watch out for Minnesota to come out swinging again and find another win with quarterback streamer Mullens at the helm.
Joe Flacco (QB, Cleveland Browns) | 12.8% Rostered
Like most NFL teams this year, the Cleveland Browns were not exempt from the injury bug at quarterback. Digging deep, they brought Joe Flacco onto the team, and at this point, it looks like he might have been the missing piece. Last week, Flacco completed 27 of 42 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns, plus two interceptions, to finish with 24.8 fantasy points. In the last three games, Amari Cooper has led the team with a 28.5% target share at wide receiver. Right behind him is David Njoku, with a 23.8% target share at tight end.
The New York Jets will travel to Cleveland for the Thursday night game. The Jets will not be a pushover in this matchup, and their defense has the best record against the quarterback position this season. They are only surrendering an average of 185 passing yards and 12.2 fantasy points per game to the quarterback position. This one is a tough call, but Flacco will be going against a former team of his. Plus, the Jets have already been eliminated from the playoff hunt, so they will only be playing for pride. The Browns’ defense should help give Flacco good field position to come out on top.
We have just three quarterbacks listed for Week 17, but several more are available. Take time and check out more at ESPN.com or your league’s platform. Good luck with your quarterback streamers and all your Week 17 matchups, including your championship games!
