Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers: Week 2 (2023)

by Stacey Cochran

Week 2 is here, and there’s no time to waste. There are some good matchups for Week 2. However, you’re not the only manager looking for a streamer this week. Living the life of a quarterback streamer puts you in a place of doubt every week. Always ready to roll the dice; looking at the matchups and throwing a Hail Mary for the win. It’s the streamers’ life for me!

This week, we have three players that debut this year as the starting quarterback for each team.

Each week, we will be looking at players who are rostered in 40% or fewer leagues using ESPN data. Let’s dive in and take a look at our favorite quarterback streamers for Week 2!

Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers: Week 2 (2023)

Derek Carr (QB, New Orleans Saints) | 28.0% Rostered

In his first game with the Saints, Derek Carr got the win. Carr threw 33 attempts for 23 completions and 305 yards. He also added one touchdown and one interception for 14.6 fantasy points. His top target, Chris Olave, had 10 targets for eight receptions. Returning to the lineup was Michael Thomas, who looked good after almost three seasons of dealing with injuries. Thomas finished the day with eight targets and five receptions for 61 yards.

We’re once again backing Carr as a quarterback streamer in Week 2 with the Saints traveling to Carolina to play the Panthers. The Panthers gave up 91 passing yards in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, but in 2022, the Panthers averaged 227 passing yards allowed per game. Look for Carr to get more comfortable with the offense and have a good game against the Panthers.

Jordan Love (QB, Green Bay Packers) | 15.8% Rostered

For just the third time in 30 years, the Green Bay Packers have a new franchise quarterback under center: Jordan Love. In Week 1, he threw 27 attempts for 15 completions and 245 yards. He finished the day with three touchdowns and 23 fantasy points. Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed led the way for the wide receivers; each targeted five times. Doubs also finished the day with two touchdowns.

Green Bay will play the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. The Falcons got the win and held Bryce Young to 146 passing yards last week. However, they gave up an average of 232 passing yards per game last season. Love got off to a great start in Week 1, and I think he can keep the momentum going for Week 2 as a quarterbacks streamer.

Baker Mayfield (QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) | 4.2% Rostered

In his sixth year in the NFL, Baker Mayfield now finds himself on his fourth team. In his Buccaneers debut, Mayfield threw 34 attempts for 21 completions and 173 yards with two touchdowns. He finished the day with 16 fantasy points. The Buccaneers still have one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin; Evans had 10 targets for six receptions and one touchdown, while Godwin had six targets for five receptions.

The Chicago Bears travel to Tampa Bay for the Week 2 matchup. The Bears allowed 245 passing yards and three touchdowns to Jordan Love in his Week 1 win, and they averaged 219 passing yards allowed in 2022. Mayfield seems to have found a fresh start, so look for him to keep it going in Week 2.

We have just three quarterbacks listed for Week 2, but several more are available. Take time and check out more at ESPN.com or your league’s platform. Good luck with your quarterback streamers and all your Week 2 matchups!
