MySpace Top 8 NFL Free Agency Fits | 2024 Fantasy Football

Spilling the Tea With Tootsie

by Rachel (@tootsiepop6)

Do you remember the social platform MySpace and its infamous “Top 8”? It was a feature where you could highlight your eight best friends in a ranked order, prompting drama and outright pettiness. Painstakingly, I spent so much time poring over the choices. I needed to ensure I had my friend rankings as accurate as possible.

Talking about drama, there are just some occasions that a person needs to spill the tea on the latest news or gossip. Let’s dish about some of my favorite transactions across the NFL. Pull up a chair for “Spilling the Tea With Tootsie.”

Here’s what I’d select as my MySpace Top 8 NFL Free Agency signings and trades thus far this offseason.

Mike Evans | Top-8 NFL Free Agency Fits | Fantasy Football (Stefon Diggs, etc.)

  1. Aaron Jones was released from the Green Bay Packers and signed a one-year, $7 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings. I love this move for the Vikings, who struggled with the run game last season. Ensuring a solid run game, Jones will also play a factor in the passing game.
  2. Mike Evans agreed to a two-year, $52 million contract to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and continue the momentum he and quarterback Baker Mayfield started last season. Keeping his role as one of the NFL’s top wide receivers, Evans will be a prize for any fantasy football manager to draft.
  3. Saquon Barkley signed a three-year, $37.8 million contract with $25.5 million fully guaranteed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He will be leaving the New York Giants after six years and moving on to a team that’s been on a hot streak lately. Joining the Eagles will give Barkley a higher chance of making it to the Super Bowl, and I know I’m confident in drafting him as my RB1 in fantasy drafts.
  4. Just this week, Stefon Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans. The astonishing part is that the Buffalo Bills received only a 2025 second-round pick in exchange for the receiver, a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick. Diggs will be joining talented quarterback C.J. Stroud and receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Proving they are here to compete in 2024, the Texans are shoring up any and all doubts.
  5. Joe Flacco signed a one-year contract worth up to $8.7 million with the Indianapolis Colts. Coming off success with the Cleveland Browns last season, this move to the Colts will give him a chance to help bridge the team until quarterback Anthony Richardson is ready to take over post-shoulder surgery and step in if another injury occurs. I’m not done with “Flacco Fever” yet.
  6. Justin Madubuike re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens on a four-year, $98-million contract that includes $75.5 million guaranteed. He initially received the non-exclusive franchise tag from the team. Over his four seasons in Baltimore, he’s had 153 total tackles and has been a key part of that defense. This re-signing ensures the Ravens will retain their stout defense.
  7. Mike Williams signed a one-year deal worth up to $15 million with the New York Jets. Joining a team with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the helm could be a considerable upgrade for Williams. He will join star receiver Garrett Wilson, and I believe their talents will be complementary in this offense. Both will be valuable fantasy assets to have.
  8. Kendrick Bourne re-signed with the New England Patriots on a three-year, $19.5 million deal that has a max value of $33 million. Even though he was on Injured Reserve (IR) for much of last season due to a torn ACL, Bourne’s talent was enough for the Patriots to lock him in as their WR1. It’s unclear who the quarterback will be when the season starts, but one thing is for sure:  Bourne will feast. Fantasy managers do not pass on taking Bourne at a value.

Who would you put as your MySpace Top 8 from the NFL Free Agency signings?
