2024 EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix Betting Picks

• Shane van Gisbergen (+900)
• AJ Allmendinger (+1500)
• Alex Bowman (+2500)

Shane van Gisbergen (+900)

Unfortunately, the outright odds on Shane van Gisbergen aren’t quite as good as they were leading up to his Cup debut last season at Chicago (+5000 would have hit very nicely), but at +900 on DraftKings, he is still well worth a look.

“SVG” is getting the hang of stock car racing, earning a trio of T12 finishes in his four Xfinity starts. He finished 10th in his other Cup start last year at the Indianapolis Road Course.

One thing to keep in mind is that van Gisbergen will be racing in the Kaulig No. 16 rather than a Project 91 Trackhouse Racing ride.

AJ Allmendinger (+1500)

Though you will rarely see me pick one Kaulig Racing car to have a shot at winning, let alone a pair of them, two of the strongest road course drivers in the world being in their cars is a hell of an effort toward their “trophy hunting” mantra.

AJ Allmendinger, who has won a pair of Cup road course races with Kaulig (2021 Indianapolis and 2023 Charlotte ROVAL) sits at an intriguing +1500 on DraftKings.  He was in the last-lap battle at COTA in 2022 and finished fifth here in 2021.

The rest of his road course pedigree really needs no introduction; it’s safe to say that as long as the equipment is on it, Allmendinger will be, too.

Alex Bowman (+2500)

You’re more than welcome to accuse me of a “homer” pick here going with Alex Bowman, but the sneaky-good road course stats, as well as a generous +2500 outright on DraftKings, make him one of the weekend’s most intriguing plays.

Bowman has yet to finish worse than eighth here, earning T3 finishes in each of the Next Gen COTA races. Even in a relatively dismal year in 2023, Bowman was fifth at the Indianapolis Road Course and eighth at the Charlotte ROVAL.

In his most recent full Cup season (2022), Bowman finished T10 in four of the seven road course races that year.
