NASCAR DFS Picks, Tiers & Rankings: 2024 South Point 400

Driver As | The Elites

It’s tough to stomach a $11,500 price tag, but given that Kyle Larson scored 110 NASCAR DFS points at Las Vegas in the spring and could dominate this race for the third straight time, you’ll likely have to if you want an optimal lineup. It’s been somewhat of a down year for his Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) counterpart William Byron ($10,800) from a fantasy perspective, averaging just 30.2 points per race. However, he’s turned it on of late, averaging 55.3 points over the past three races. He returns to Las Vegas, where he finished P10 in the spring, his fourth T10 in five Next-Gen races here, despite catching a garbage bag on his grill. The only issue with Byron is he might qualify near the front, limiting the potential for differential points.

If you’re trying to avoid the absolute chalk or just want a strong Driver2, perhaps take a look at Joey Logano ($9,800) and Denny Hamlin ($10,600). Logano has won the seventh playoff race three times, most recently here at Las Vegas in 2022. Meanwhile, Hamlin last won in Sin City in 2021 but finished T10 at Las Vegas in the spring and at four of our five high-speed intermediate comp tracks this season.

Driver Bs | Point-Getters

Ross Chastain ($8,800) is at fair market value for a driver who just won and scored 82 NASCAR DFS points at our closest comp track of Kansas. Putting up 62 points in the spring race and being sixth in the Las Vegas Next-Gen total speed rankings, courtesy of Ifantasyrace.com, the No. 1 car is a strong start this week. Ty Gibbs ($8,300) is No. 1 in the 2024 high-speed intermediate total speed rankings and will be bad fast again if he can manage his tire wear and track position.

Kyle Busch ($8,500) might’ve had a lackluster run here in the spring, but he still has three T5s in five Next-Gen era Las Vegas races. If he fails to qualify well, he’ll be someone to circle for your lineups!

Driver Cs | In the Mix

Tyler Reddick ($10,000) has turned into a pumpkin for NASCAR DFS purposes lately, averaging 12 points per race over the past six weeks. The silver lining is that he was second in the total speed rankings in the spring and was the fastest car late in a run, resulting in a second-place finish and 76 points.

Las Vegas native Noah Gragson ($6,900) is arguably the best value on the board after finishing sixth here in the spring. The Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) driver has been hit-or-miss at high-speed intermediates this season, but this track just fits his racecraft, evident in his 3.4 average finish here across eight Xfinity Series starts.

Driver Ds | Could Do Worse

Another Las Vegas native, Zane Smith ($6,100), has five T10s in his seven Truck Series starts at his home track. The Spire Motorsports driver is continuing to drive for a seat next year and has been a NASCAR DFS darling for nearly three months now, averaging 38.9 points per race over the past 11 races. His teammate, Carson Hocevar ($6,400), finished P15 in the spring race and has averaged 30.7 points per race in that same span. Both should be considered when looking in the low-$6K range.

Driver Fs | The Junk Drawer

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ($6,000) doesn’t offer much upside, but he won’t sink your lineup either, as he has finished no worse than P25 in the five Next-Gen Las Vegas races. Austin Dillon ($6,200) fits the same category, as he has four T20s in at Las Vegas in that span.

If you’re trying to get frisky, Jimmie Johnson ($5,400) has four career Las Vegas wins and finished P11 in his last start here, coming in 2020. If Johnson qualifies out back, he could repay his bottom-of-the-barrell price tag.
