It’s still tampering time, but we are now one day closer to the NFL New Year! With the New Year on Wednesday, most of these contracts become official. The second day did turn out to be quieter for any fantasy football outlooks. However, there will always be winners and losers, so let’s see who they are!
Just like yesterday, albeit with only three people on this list, the fantasy football winners and losers following Day 2 of 2025 NFL Free Agency will be in alphabetical order.

Fantasy Football Winner (Day 2)
DeAndre Hopkins (WR, Baltimore Ravens)
This one snuck up almost at the last minute! This signing is perfect for DeAndre Hopkins and the Baltimore Ravens. While Hopkins is not the WR1 he used to be, he still showed flashes of being a great wide receiver last year with good quarterback play on the Chiefs.
From Weeks 8-17 last season, Hopkins finished as WR33, averaging 10.9 Points Per Reception (PPR) fantasy points per game. The speedster Xavier Worthy was better than him, averaging 12.4 PPR fantasy points per game in that span. I note that because that’s where I see the similarities in his new situation. Hopkins will be behind the speedster Zay Flowers, but the Ravens desperately needed a season-long WR2. Rashod Bateman did have some breakout games, but it wasn’t enough.
All in all, the Ravens upgraded at the WR2 position and boosted Hopkins’ stock a bit in the process. He may not see as many targets because of the rushing attack that Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry bring to the table. However, Hopkins could end up being a touchdown machine, just like Bateman was last year when he scored five touchdowns in his last five games, including the playoffs and excluding Week 18. After a quieter Day 2 of NFL Free Agency, Hopkins clearly emerged as the biggest winner.
Fantasy Football Losers (Day 2)
Anthony Richardson (QB, Indianapolis Colts)
I know this might be shocking, but if I were Anthony Richardson, Daniel Jones would be the one free-agent quarterback who would scare me. This offensive scheme fits Jones well, as the former Duke Blue Devil can use his legs.
So now we will get a “quarterback battle” during training camp. I do expect Richardson to win that, but this will certainly shorten his leash if he puts up a couple of bad games. The problem is that he did have some slumps last season, which enabled Joe Flacco to play some games. That means “Danny Dimes” could come back into our lives and take the starting job from Richardson.
That certainly scares me looking at Richardson’s fantasy football outlook, and it should scare you, too.
C.J. Stroud (QB, Houston Texans)
Caleb Williams and C.J. Stroud were the two quarterbacks who were sacked the most in the league last year. Williams won big on Day 1 of NFL Free Agency because the Chicago Bears upgraded his offensive line with not just one but three moves.
Unfortunately, the Texans have done the complete opposite and left Stroud out to dry. I understand wanting to get away from the subpar season it was last year. However, trading Laremy Tunsil and Kenyon Green to NFC East teams shouldn’t have been part of the plan. Then, they’ve only signed one free-agent offensive lineman. Luckily for them, this is a solid draft class for offensive linemen, but it does scare me that they seem to trust more rookies than veterans.
