Updated 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Odds & Picks

  • Cole Custer (+300)
  • Justin Allgaier (+400)
  • Shane van Gisbergen (+3500)

Cole Custer (+300)

The easy place to start is with the defending Xfinity Series champion, Cole Custer. Though the No. 00 team didn’t lock down their first win of 2024 until Pocono two races ago, the team’s finishes have been title-winning stats.

Custer has finished T10 in 16 of the 20 races this year, with T5 finishes in nine of those races. That includes a P5 at Phoenix, where the title will be awarded. He finished runner-up at Las Vegas (the other non-superspeedway track that will be run for a second time in 2024 in the playoffs) earlier this year.

Last season’s run to the title featured only two finishes worse than P6 in the playoffs. However, it should be noted that they did come in the pair of races leading up to Phoenix at Homestead and Martinsville, which hold their same places in this year’s schedule.

With his return to the Cup Series solidified for 2025, Custer will have a damn good shot to leave the Xfinity Series behind as its back-to-back champion.

Justin Allgaier (+400)

It’s shocking that Justin Allgaier still hasn’t brought home an Xfinity Series championship yet. He hasn’t finished outside the T5 in points since 2018 and has been in the top seven at season’s end in every full-time season he’s run in NASCAR’s second tier.

It fits Allgaier’s trend as perhaps the unluckiest driver in the sport. All too often, the No. 7 finds ways to lose races they should win. That includes the spring Phoenix race, where Allgaier led 52 laps before blowing a tire and crashing out late.

But the playoffs are all about who can get hot at the right time, and Allgaier’s summer stretch has looked much more consistent. He’s only finished outside the top nine twice since winning his lone race of the season at Darlington, being involved in incidents at Charlotte and Iowa.

Allgaier has come as close as can be to a title, and this year feels like the one where he finally can get it done.

Shane van Gisbergen (+3500)

If you’re looking for a longshot, the easy pick is Shane van Gisbergen. Though his oval results didn’t start out championship-caliber, the No. 97 is improving weekly. “SVG “finished P4 at Indianapolis and was running top-10 before being crashed at Pocono in the two most recent oval races.

The playoff schedule works in his favor as well. The first round of the playoffs features the Charlotte ROVAL, where SVG will undoubtedly be the favorite.

His other road course wins (with one more potentially on the horizon before the playoffs at Watkins Glen) will boost his playoff points ahead of most other drivers. If he can make it to Phoenix, the No. 97 finished P6 there in the spring – which, in the right circumstance, could be enough for a title.
