Week 4 Shore Thing Sleepers (2023)

by IBT Media Staff

“Shore Thing Sleepers” isn’t your ordinary fantasy football Week 4 start/sit article. Instead, our analyst duo of Seth Woolcock and Eric Romoff highlight lower-valued players that can provide starting-caliber production for a specific week. These are usually players near the end of your bench or even on the waiver wire/free agency. You can catch an additional sleeper pick live at the end of our weekly in-season Friday podcast episode.

Rostership percentages are based on ESPN Points Per Reception (PPR) redraft fantasy football leagues.

Week 4 Start/Sit Consideration: Shore Thing Sleepers

Michael Thomas (WR, New Orleans Saints) | 84.5% Rostered

Michael Thomas, a consistent target machine, still averages nearly nine targets per game, helping him hit double-digit PPR points in each of his three games this season. While starting QB Derek Carr will likely be out with a sprained AC joint, Jameis Winston has been in the building since 2020 and has appeared to have good chemistry with Thomas in their time on the field together.

In addition, Thomas has a history of success against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with an impressive average of 20.3 PPR points per game in his career matchups against them. This suggests that Thomas has a good chance to shine against the familiar divisional opponent. Furthermore, with Chris Olave likely drawing more coverage from Carlton Davis, there’s even further potential for Thomas to have a vintage performance. Woolcock

DJ Chark (WR, Carolina Panthers) | 46.3% Rostered

DJ Chark recently showed his fantasy potential with a strong performance in Week 3, finishing as the PPR WR15. He was targeted 11 times in Seattle last week, resulting in four receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. While there’s a swap back at quarterback this week against Minnesota, with Bryce Young replacing Andy Dalton, Chark’s matchup against Akayleb Evans is incredibly enticing. Evans has struggled in coverage this season, allowing a 62% catch rate and giving up nearly 15 Yards Per Reception (YPR). Weaknesses in Evans’ game can be exploited by Chark, especially given his size advantage. Romoff
