Fantasy Football Advice: Week 1 Mailbag

Should I Trade Joe Mixon for a WR1? Who Do I target in That range? – @jzamudio24

Our fantasy football advice is to package Mixon with an auxiliary WR to explore the world of low-end WR1s who have the potential to shine. Players like Garrett Wilson, who had a standout rookie with incredible athleticism and a high ceiling, and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who closed out his sophomore year with impressive numbers (106 receptions, 1,161 yards and six touchdowns), are on our radar.

But let’s not forget A.J. Brown, who has proven himself as a reliable WR1, finishing as the Points Per Reception (PPR) WR6 last season.  Jaylen Waddle is a player going closest to Mixon’s Average Draft Position (ADP) and has shown great promise with back-to-back 1000-yard seasons to start his career.

To maximize your chances, consider assessing which teams in your league have the most pressing need for running backs. This strategic move can help you identify potential trade partners willing to negotiate. While securing a true WR1 might be challenging, these emerging talents can offer consistent fantasy points and the opportunity to outperform expectations.

Who Should I Start As My Second FLEX, Brandin Cooks or Isiah Pacheco? – @Ldolan859

In-season fantasy football advice usually revolves around helping you make those crucial start/sit decisions. In this case, choosing between Brandin Cooks and Isiah Pacheco for your second FLEX spot is the challenge at hand.

Our expert advice leans toward Pacheco. Lions vs. Chiefs boast the highest points total on the slate, and with Travis Kelce potentially out or less than 100%, the team may lean more on the running game, making Pacheco a valuable asset.

With Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon in the mix on third downs, the backfield could see significant usage. While Cooks certainly has talent, there’s uncertainty surrounding his usage, particularly in the first-ever game in Dallas and with McCarthy now calling plays. In situations like this, it’s often wise to choose the more stable option, and Pacheco appears to be that choice.

Should I Drop Dalton Kincaid or Geno Smith for Jaxon Smith-Njigba? – @mkiiiza

Fantasy football advice also extends to waiver wire decisions, and we’re here to provide guidance on a tempting opportunity. Someone has dropped Jaxon Smith-Njigba in your 10-team, .5 PPR league, and you’re wondering whether to make a move.

We love Geno Smith, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s upside is otherworldly, with a WR2 ceiling when healthy. Remember that he tore up the Rose Bowl with Ohio State for 15-437-3 the last time he was fully healthy, showcasing his immense talent.

Furthermore, first-round wide receivers with a profile like his ten to deliver fantastic results, lately even in their rookie year. Given this potential, it might be worth parting ways with Dalton Kincaid or Smith to secure a promising wide receiver like Smith-Njigba. It would come down to us if you feel more secure in your starting QB or David Njoku as your starting tight end in who you should cut loose.
