Fantasy Football Advice: Week 4 Mailbag

Rest of Season: De’Von Achane or Raheem Mostert – @ZBEAR10391

After historic Week 3 performances, choosing between De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert for the rest of the season is quite the task, but we’re here to provide you with the fantasy football advice you need to make an informed choice.

Mostert has exceeded expectations, amassing 240 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns on 41 carries. He has also contributed in the passing game with 10 receptions for 79 yards and a receiving touchdown. As a result, Mostert shockingly sits as the Points Per Reception (PPR) RB1 for the season after three weeks.

Achane, on the other hand, missed Week 1 and had limited touches in Week 2. However, he exploded onto the scene last week, scoring a remarkable 51.8 PPR points. This performance came on the back of 18 carries for 203 yards and two rushing touchdowns, along with four receptions for 30 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Achane is now the RB6 for the season.

Both Mostert and Achane are intriguing sell-high candidates if someone in your league is willing to overreact. It’s worth noting that Jeff Wilson Jr. will eventually rejoin the Dolphins’ backfield once he’s off Injured Reserve (IR).

However, Mostert carries the concern of a proven injury history, having missed substantial games in recent years. Additionally, he is now 31 years old. On the other hand, Achane, while smaller in stature, has demonstrated his pass-catching ability with 60 receptions over the past two years at Texas A&M, potentially giving him the higher floor of the two.

Both players are projected to be mid-to-high-end RB2s and are part of a potent Miami offense under the guidance of Mike McDaniel. But in such situations, the preference often leans toward the younger player, which makes Achane a compelling choice for the rest of the season.

Rank These Receivers Rest of Season: Quentin Johnston, Josh Palmer, Jahan Dotson, Marvin Mims – @TexasTrojan2004

Jahan Dotson demonstrated his raw talent with 523 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie in just 12 games. His only limitation this season appears to be OC Eric Bieniemy‘s tendency to favor the Washington TEs. Still, Dotson remains a promising option with the most talent of the bunch.

Quentin Johnston, while raw, showcased his potential with an impressive 19.0 Yards Per Reception (YPR) at TCU. He has the potential to fill the down-field role in the offense, similar to Mike Williams. It might just take him some time for it to translate to fantasy points.

Josh Palmer delivered two WR1 finishes, one WR2 finish and two WR3 finishes last season as the Chargers dealt with receiver injuries. He is an immediate top-40 player at the position, especially against the Raiders this week.

Marvin Mims is an electrifying player, currently pacing as the WR33 despite seeing just nine targets through three weeks. He scored a return touchdown in Week 3 and a long receiving touchdown in Week 2. While he has the potential to be a nice WR3 for the rest of the season, he will be limited by the Broncos’ overall team ceiling and the presence of Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

In summary, the rankings for these receivers for the rest of the season would be:

  1. Jahan Dotson
  2. Quentin Johnston
  3. Josh Palmer
  4. Marvin Mims

Keep in mind that these rankings can evolve as the season progresses and performances change.
