2024 Pennzoil 400 Betting Picks
Christopher Bell (+900)
Christopher Bell has been one of the best at Las Vegas in the Next Gen era, having the third-best odds to win this weekend at +900 on DraftKings.
The No. 20 team has ranked second in iFantasyRace.com’s Next-Gen total speed ranking at Vegas. Bell has earned a pair of poles, a trio of “lucky” top-sevens (at least when in Vegas) and an additional 10th-place finish. In 2023, Bell earned finishes of fifth and second here.
Kyle Busch (+1100)
At outright odds of +1100, Kyle Busch is perhaps my favorite bet of the week. Busch’s home track has been arguably the best in his career, earning a T5 in 48% of races in Sin City and T10s in 60%.
Only three times in 12 races here dating back to 2017 has “Rowdy” even finished worse than sixth place, though one of those came last spring with a 14th-place run. The T3 (+300) and T5 (+140) numbers are also tempting enough with how good the No. 8 should run this weekend in the Pennzoil 400.
Austin Cindric (+10000)
This one may seem a little crazy, and I don’t blame you at all if you choose to dismiss this one. However, Austin Cindric has shown some life in 2024, and odds of +10000 would be one hell of a payday.
Starting the season with two superspeedway races can cloud the judgment of whether a team is actually good or if they are just fast or lucky on drafting tracks. That said, the No. 2 team has led more laps (45) in 2024 than they did all of 2023 (33). A fourth-place run at Atlanta and a sixth-place at Las Vegas in this race last spring also give me some faith in a longshot hit being in the realm of possibility.
Other Outright Bets To Consider for the Pennzoil 400:
- Martin Truex Jr. (+1000): Still searching for his first T10 of 2024, Martin Truex Jr. has done just that in Las Vegas 62.5% of the time.
- Joey Logano (+1500): Joey Logano will be happy to see a non-superspeedway race he’s had success at before, especially after crashing out in both events to start 2024 and his $10,000 fine for altering his gloves.
- Alex Bowman (+2200): Chevrolet has won every race across the top-three series this season, and Alex Bowman’s last win came in this race two years ago.
