NASCAR DFS Picks, Tiers & Rankings: 2024 Pennzoil 400

Las Vegas TiersDriver As | The Elites

Kyle Larson‘s heavy price tag, specifically on DraftKings at $11,000, makes him potentially less chalky than he should be as a +450 betting favorite and a driver who has two runner-ups and a win at Las Vegas in the Next Gen era. Kyle Busch also brings pedigree with him, finishing with a T5 in five of his last six races here. However, it’s at a much more manageable price of $9,700 on DraftKings and $22.30 on Fantrax.

I’ve gushed about Christopher Bell all week, and he will be my most heavily rostered driver in NASCAR DFS lineups this week. Bell finished fifth in this race a year ago and second in the fall. He also ranks No. 2 in the Next Gen Las Vegas total speed rankings (courtesy of ifantasyrace.com). At $9,500 on DraftKings and $23.96 on Fantrax, Bell is the best discount in the garage this week.

If you’re looking for A-Tier leverage, Ross Chastain is your play. Quietly, “The Melon Man” has finished fifth, 12th, second and third in Trackhouse Racing equipment.

Driver Bs | Point-Getters

Alex Bowman won this race two years ago and is seventh in the Las Vegas Next Gen Total Speed Rankings. He comes in at an absurd $8,100 on DraftKings and $17.93 on Fantrax. Considering Hendrick Motorsports has won three of the last four here, Bowman should be in as many lineups as possible at that price tag. Bubba Wallace has two T5s to begin the season and now returns to a race where he finished fourth year ago. Count me in.

Brad Keselowski feels like a gamble, finishing outside the top 25 in total speed rankings here in 2022 before having strong showings last season, ultimately finishing fourth in our latest Las Vegas running. I’ll likely avoid him and Chase Elliott from the B-Tier. The most popular driver’s Las Vegas finishes in the Next Gen Era include P32, P21 and P9.

Driver Cs | In the Mix

I’m going back to well with Austin Cindric. He finally has momentum on his side and now turns his attention to a track where he is top-tree all-time in average starting position (8.25) and finished sixth at last spring. Both Toyotas in this tier (Tyler Reddick and Ty Gibbs) carry upside but offer more unknowns than their 23XI Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) teammates. I’m probably keeping them out of my NASCAR DFS lineups if possible. The only other worthy mention from the C-Tier includes hometown Noah Gragson, who has an average finish of 3.4 across eight Xfinity Series starts at Las Vegas. He’s a sound value at $6,200 on DraftKings and $6.40 on Fantrax.

Driver Ds | Could Do Worse

Erik Jones poled this race two years ago and has scored a P8 in the Next Gen Era. There’s nothing wrong with playing him at a fair price of $7,400 on DraftKings and $15.51 on Fantrax. The rest of this tier includes nobody who will likely leave you with next-to-nothing, but their upside is probably limited to a P15 finish.

Driver Fs | The Junk Drawer

Justin Haley finished P8 in this race last year, but it’s still hard to trust his Rick Ware Racing (RWR) equipment after two mechanical failures in three races this season, including amidst a strong run at the Busch Light Clash. Nonetheless, if I’m looking for a NASCAR DFS play from our F-Tier on DraftKings, it’s probably him at just $5,300.
