NASCAR DFS Picks, Tiers & Rankings: 2024 Würth 400

Driver As | The Elites

The top tier this week is nearly a full sweep of Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) drivers. Martin Truex Jr. is the clear pick of the week at $11,300 on DraftKings and $25.97 on Fantrax, having won four times at Dover. Kyle Larson, winner at Dover in 2019, is slightly more expensive ($11,500 on DraftKings and $26.33 on Fantrax) and slightly riskier, running into incidents each of the last two years here. If anyone’s going to break up the party, it’s going to be Ross Chastain. He’s at the top of the board for the best Dover Next-Gen total speed ranking (courtesy of ifantasyrace.com). The Trackhouse Racing driver provides marginal salary relief at the top of the board, price at $10,200 on DraftKings and $22.49 on Fantrax.

Driver Bs | Point-Getters

There’s some opportunity to stack up on HMS and JGR drivers here. Alex Bowman won Dover in 2021 and has four additional T5s here, providing the largest HMS discount at $9,300 on DraftKings and $18.98 on Fantrax. Ryan Blaney, marginally more expensive at $9,600 on DraftKings and $23.77, finished P3 here in 2023 and had the best total speed ranking in that race. Last week’s winner, Tyler Reddick, has a pair of T10s at the Monster Mile, and momentum is always something to consider, specifically on DraftKings at the price of $8,200. Or for $200 less you can grab Chris Buescher, who won the 2022 pole and earned a pair of T10s in the Next Gen car at Dover.

Driver Cs | In the Mix

As they often can be, the C-Tier this week is a mix of optimistic reaches and cautionary tales at high prices. I can’t say I love Kyle Busch this week, especially not at a DraftKings price of $9,000. Three wins and four runner-up finishes look good on paper, but that’s ancient history compared to a P21 here in 2023. But Josh Berry is worth some optimism, having won in the Xfinity Series at Dover and having a strong substitute appearance for Alex Bowman in 2023. A price of $7,300 on DraftKings and $8.88 on Fantrax for the No. 4 looks much better as a mid-tier lineup pick. Don’t sleep on Ricky Stenhouse Jr. either, specifically on DraftKings at a discount price of $6,500. A runner-up finish like he had at Dover in 2022 or even adding to his total of four T10 finishes here would be bang for your buck.

Driver Ds | Could Do Worse

A chock-full D-Tier gives signs for optimism this weekend. Daniel Hemric has been a DFS darling as of late, putting up a monster 50 DraftKings points last week and 41 the week prior; well worth the $5,200 you’ll pay for the No. 31 on the platform. Front Row Motorsports deserves some respect, especially Todd Gilliland at $5,500 on DraftKings and $13.89 on Fantrax. The No. 38 has scored over DraftKings 30 points in two of the last three races. Justin Haley has had a rough couple of weeks, but his best points day this season came at a somewhat similar track of Bristol, earning a 44-point day. With the Rick Ware Racing (RWR) cars still dirt-cheap on the board at DraftKings, Haley at $5,400 could be a nice way to round out the lineup.

Driver Fs | The Junk Drawer

Kaz Grala isn’t necessarily a sexy pick, but at the lowest price on the board at DraftKings ($5,000), a repeat performance of his 21 or 26 points in the last two weeks would be a nice addition. I’m curious to see how Corey Heim fares in his Cup Series debut filling in for Erik Jones. He could be worth taking a flyer on at $5,800 on DraftKings and the $5 minimum on Fantrax, but it’s risky as Legacy Motor Club doesn’t have the best pedigree so far in 2024. We didn’t even rank Jimmie Johnson. At $6,200 on DraftKigns and the $5 minimum on Fantrax, he just doesn’t have a good enough handle on the Next Gen car to consider playing him.
