The Open Championship 2024 Prop Bet of the Week
Collin Morikawa (-130) vs. Bryson Dechambeau
The world’s best head to Royal Troon Golf Club for the final Major of the year. The weather is forecasted to be relatively mild, considering what Scotland is capable of seeing this time of year. Steady winds and occasional precipitation are expected.
Sustained winds call for solid ball striking and good iron play, which Collin Morikawa has become famous for in his career. In these past two months, he has played some of the most consistent golf we’ve seen him play.
Troon calls for players to position themselves well off of the tee and hit good approach shots. When they don’t, it forces them to gain those strokes back around-the-green and save pars. In 2024, Morikawa ranks 16th in strokes gained off-the-tee and 39th in strokes gained on approach. His short-game woes seem to have been patched up, as he ranks 12th in shots gained around-the-green and 17th in bogey avoidance.
Morikawa’s driving game off the tee has been leading to spectacular play. Meanwhile, Bryson Dechambeau can be known for being errant off the tee, which will find tall fescue at this course. I’m selling high on Dechambeau and riding with consistent accuracy and short game.
