Travelers Championship 2024 Prop Bet of the Week
Scottie Scheffler: Top American (+260)
Throughout the season I’ve seen a trend within the model on when to back Scottie Scheffler and when to look past him. This is not one of the weeks to look past him. There isn’t a strong correlation between the previous winners and quality finishers of this event being strong putters statistically. Those are the types of events that I’ve seen Scheffler play particularly well in and the ones that he’s captured most of his wins at this year.
Some key metrics I’m paying attention to this week are shots gained total, Shots gained on approach, approach between 150-225 yards and birdie average.
I think two European contenders, Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland, have a real shot at winning. By taking Scheffler as Top American, the price is reduced from what the overall outright price is. However, we get to remove two strong players from the equation. That basically leaves us with a group of Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay and a few other longshots.
The course should play easy, as it usually takes somewhere around -20 to win here. Scheffler has quality finishes in this event; he finished T4 in 2023 and T13 in 2022. He knows how to find his way around this place. I like the odds for him to beat these other Americans this week.
