2024 Ambetter Health 400 Prop Bet of the Week

John Hunter Nemechek Top-Finshing Toyota (+1500)

The Daytona 500 marked John Hunter Nemechek’s return to racing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series. In 2020, Nemecheck ran the Front Row Motorsports No. 38 car. After a season of three T10s and leading just one lap, the Mooresville, N.C. native returned to full-time racing in the Truck Series. He spent two seasons there and the following in the Xfinity Series.

It looks like hitting the rest button paid off. Nemechek finished seventh in the Daytona 500 after finishing fourth in the Bluegreen Vacations Duel No. 2 and 13th in the Busch Light Clash.

Yes, there were some rookie mistakes along the way, like spinning Josh Berry on pit road. However, there were moments when Nemechek looked like a seasoned veteran. His +22 pass differential and ninth overall total speed ranking (courtesy of ifantasyrace.com) give me hope that he could have another standout performance at a similar track this week, Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Though the 26-year-old hasn’t raced on this configuration of Atlanta in a Cup car, he finished third last year here in the Truck Series, plus first and eighth in his two Xfinity Series races.

Odds of 15-1 to finish as the top Toyota feels a bit criminal, considering the next closer drivers are Ty Gibbs (+800) and his Legacy Motorsports teammate Erik Jones (+700). It’s great value and worth investing in. Just keep in mind it’s longshot odds for a reason. Some things do have to go right for it to cash. I am currently down a quarter unit pre-qualifying.
