The American Express 2024 Prop Bet of the Week

Sungjae Im: Top-20 Finish (+105)

The American Express is a birdie barrage. This week, I am looking for someone who has had previous success at this venue and is also in good form coming in. We want to target a player who is confident they can go low four days in a row here.

One player in particular who tends to take advantage of courses that he’s had recent success at is Sungjae Im. The last event that he played in was The Sentry earlier this month. Going into the tournament, his previous finishes at that event were T5 in 2023, T8 in 2022 and T5 in 2021. He knows he can go deep there, and what does he do? Im sets the record for the most birdies in a 72-hole PGA Tour event en route to another T5 finish.

His track record at The American Express is very similar to that of The Sentry. Previous finishes at this event include T18 in 2023, T11 in 2022, T12 in 2021, T10 in 2020 and T12 in 2019. On average, over the past five years at The American Express, the amount of strokes needed to be within the leader in order to obtain a T20 finish was 9.4. Im has accomplished that each of the last five years here, and I like his odds to do it again. He is rolling as much as anyone, and I’m riding the hot hand.
