The 2025 Oscars are almost upon us, and (imagine your best dreamy inner monologue voice), oh, the Oscars. The night when celebrities dress in clothes, most of us are too poor to think about, and the film industry either captivates or enrages us.
That was fun, right? Anyway.
Yes, it is time to give out awards for the best of the best, at least according to the Academy, of movies from 2024. While there are certainly some snubs, looking at you, “Terrifier,” there are so many amazing movies, actors and directors to celebrate!
So, let’s dive into my full 2025 Oscars betting odds, picks and predictions.

2025 Oscars Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions
Best Supporting Actress
Odds
- Zoe Saldana – “Emilia Pérez” (-700)
- Ariana Grande – “Wicked” (+500)
- Felicity Jones – “The Brutalist” (+1000)
- Monica Barbaro – “A Complete Unknown” (+1600)
- Isabella Rossellini – “Conclave” (+1800)
We are starting with an immediate contender for “What the fuck?” of the night. Listen, “Emilia Perez” is… well, it’s something, but this award should be given to the actor who delivered the most when they needed to. Not for nothing, but “Emilia Perez” doesn’t exactly have glowing reviews, holding a respectable 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and an awful 31% on their audience score. There is a clear winner here, and it will be good to see her take this one home.
Usually, I am big on the favorites, but with this one, I think “Wicked” could have a big night, starting with Arian Grande (as Galinda) winning Best Supporting Actress.
Steve’s Pick: Ariana Grande – “Wicked” (+500)
Best Actress
Odds
- Demi Moore – “The Substance” (-150)
- Mikey Madison – “Anora” (+110)
- Fernanda Torres – “I’m Still Here” (+1000)
- Karla Sofía Gascón – “Emilia Pérez” (+1200)
- Cynthia Erivo – “Wicked” (+1400)
The Oscar for Best Actress is an infuriating case of two actresses I love so much, both of whom deserve their moment. However, Cynthia Erivo (as Elpheba in “Wicked”) should be the one to take home the statue this year. The problem is that Demi Moore (as Elisabeth Sparkle in “The Substance”) has a lot of PR and, frankly, some long-overdue kudos coming her way.
That will probably be enough to sway the Academy in her favor. The chalk is taking this one, even though I wish they would defy some expectations…
Steve’s Pick: Demi Moore – “The Substance” (-150)
Best Picture
Odds
- “The Brutalist” (-125)
- “Emilia Pérez” (+350)
- “Conclave” (+450)
- “Anora” (+600)
- “A Complete Unknown” (+1600)
- “Wicked” (+2200)
- “Dune: Part Two” (+3000)
- “The Substance” (+2200)
- “Nickel Boys” (+3500)
- “I’m Still Here” (+6000)
OK, that’s it; I may have been able to let Erivo miss her EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards) this year because she’s almost a lock to land it next year, but “Wicked” is nominated for 10 Oscars! If that doesn’t scream Best Picture, I don’t know what does.
To hell with the chalk. We are flying high with this one and the winnings that will come with it at 22-1!
Steve’s Pick: “Wicked” (+2200)
Best Actor
Odds
- Adrien Brody – “The Brutalist” (-165)
- Timothée Chalamet – “A Complete Unknown” (+150)
- Ralph Fiennes – “Conclave” (+600)
- Colman Domingo – “Sing Sing” (+1000)
- Sebastian Stan – “The Apprentice” (+1600)
This is a dogfight between Adrien Brody (as László Tóth in “The Brutalist”) and Timothée Chalamet (as Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown”). The others in this category were excellent, but all of the buzz is behind these two, and unless Ralph Fiennes (as Lawrence in “Conclave”) pulls off a massive upset, this will probably go to Brody.
A more powerful, albeit a bit miserable, film, “The Brutalist,” is more than likely to lock this up, leaving Chalamet to wait another year or years to get his gold.
Steve’s Pick: Adrien Brody – “The Brutalist” (-165)
Best Director
Odds
- Brady Corbet – “The Brutalist” (-500)
- Sean Baker – “Anora” (+400)
- Jacques Audiard – “Emilia Pérez” (+600)
- James Mangold – “A Complete Unknown” (+1600)
- Coralie Fargeat – “The Substance” (+1800)
Look, we know how the Academy can get. They love a piece of miserable cinema. They just do. When the odds are this skewed, and where “Anora” seems to have lost some of the buzz it was carrying early, this feels like another win for “The Brutalist.” Again, I don’t pick the winners; I just tell you which ones I think are the best bets.
Steve’s Pick: Brady Corbet – The Brutalist (-500)
