NASCAR DFS Picks, Tiers & Rankings: 2024 Bank of America Roval 400

NASCAR DFS Tiers ROVAL

Driver As | The Elites

The top three drivers for NASCAR DFS lineups this week are A.J. Allmendinger ($10,000), Chris Buescher ($9,100) and Tyler Reddick ($9,300). Allmenginder and Reddick have two of the fastest cars in the Charlotte Roval Next-Gen Total speed rankings, courtesy of Ifantasyrace.com. All three scored over 40 fantasy points last year here, and Buescher was the last road course winner at Watkins Glen. The No. 16 and Buescher can also score some valuable place differential points alongside their dominator points.

Driver Bs | Point-Getters

While Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) lead the way in ROVAL’s total speed rankings, Kyle Busch ($8,300) is another driver who has cracked the top 10 in ROVAL speed. “Rowdy” ranks fourth and is in the top five in average fantasy points in the two Next-Gen ROVAL races. He had shown potential this year on road courses by scoring 40 points in all but Watkins Glenn when Corey Lajoie took him out on lap one.

Christopher Bell ($9,000) is your 2022 ROVAL winner and has done excellent on road courses this year. The lowest he has scored this year is 32 NASCAR DFS points at Watkins Glen. While last year’s ROVAL race was not as great for him despite having the eighth-fastest cars, Bell should run well this weekend and could be a contender to lead laps and win the race.

Driver Cs | In the Mix

Shane van Gisbergen ($10,300) is your most expensive driver on the slate. While he was in position to win the last two Cup Series road course races at Watkins Glen and Chicago, I am unsure if “SVG” will be a contender this weekend. He has no track history, and the ROVAL is different from those he has run on. If SVG figures it out, he can pay off his price tag and be in the A-Tier. It all comes down to how quickly he can pick up the Roval.

The three playoff drivers racing to advance in the next round are a point of discussion. Ryan Blaney ($7,800), Joey Logano ($7,300) and Alex Bowman ($8,100) have all had one good NASCAR DFS day here. Last year, all three finished better than where they had started and had legitimate speed to do so. Logano is the one where I am not too sure how he races this weekend. He could go for the stage points and hope to get a good finishing position or go for the win. His strategy will come down to how he qualifies and how others run.

Driver Ds | Could Do Worse

Daniel Suarez ($7,700), Austin Cindric ($7,500) and Michael McDowell ($8,700) have shown themselves to be excellent drivers on road courses. However, when it comes to the ROVAL, all three have not had good finishes, with Cindric’s best finish being P25 place last year. A new configuration can help them change their results and secure a top-15 finish.

Four of the five drivers in our D-Tier cost between $5,600 and $5,900, making them the cheapest options. Zane Smith ($5,800) and Ryan Preece ($5,600) are the best drivers to have shown consistency on road courses this year. Their consistency is usually a result of qualifying poorly and making up positions, making them essential, cheap place differential plays.

Driver Fs | The Junk Drawer

The two playoff drivers here have a horrible history at the ROVAL. Denny Hamlin ($7,100) has not had a good road course race this season and needs to finish the bare minimum on Sunday to advance. Chase Briscoe ($7,000) might have a chance to sneak into the next round, but only if he wins the Roval. Briscoe had a strong outing at the Glenn, finishing sixth while ranking sixth in the total speed rankings. Both are affordable in the $7k range but need to qualify poorly to be a place differential play worthy of your lineup.

Todd Gilliand ($6,800) and John Hunter Nemechek ($5,500) are not great at the ROVAL but have shown potential on road courses in 2024. They tend to finish a few spots ahead of where they qualify but have not shown the pace to do so.  Both are cheap plays but could backfire at the same time. “JHN” is the lowest I would go to on the slate.
