As we approach the final stretch of the fantasy football season, finding the right waiver wire targets is crucial. There are always a few hidden gems who could provide that extra push for a playoff spot – whether you need depth or upside – the only trick is finding who those players are.
Let’s get “In the Scope” and focus on some lesser-rostered players with rising roles and untapped potential to snag for free after the Week 11 waiver wire runs!
- Ricky Pearsall (WR, San Francisco 49ers) 25.0%
- Quentin Johnston (WR, Los Angeles Chargers) | 45.4%
- Xavier Legette (WR, Carolina Panthers) | 47.5%
- Jalen McMillan (WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) | 26.9%
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling (WR, New Orleans Saints) | 1.7%
John Metchie III (WR, Houston Texans) | 0.5% rostered
John Metchie III finally broke out last week with five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown on six targets, good for 18.4 PPR points. He commanded a 25% target share per route and had a 14.3% first-read rate. With Metchie III seeing more slot snaps lately, his role could stick even after Nico Collins returns. Houston’s offense is desperate for consistent options in the passing game, and Metchie III, a 24-year-old early second-round pick, might be the answer.
One big question is whether or not he will hold the field over Xavier Hutchinson. Still, neither Tank Dell nor Collins has been the picture of health this season, so he should maintain volume regardless of who’s available. Metchie III is a great speculative waiver wire add for down the stretch.
Kayshon Boutte (WR, New England Patriots) | 0.9% rostered
Kayshon Boutte has quietly emerged in the Patriots’ offense, posting six targets per game over the past three contests and averaging 6.7 fantasy points per game in that span. He’s also played 96% or more of the offensive snaps in the past two weeks.
Drake Maye is bringing life to this offense, and Boutte’s involvement is meaningful. He was a highly-touted prospect out of LSU, and the Patriots clearly value him, with his consistent snap count showing he’s trusted as a playmaker. If you’re looking for a volume-driven wide receiver stash with some upside, Boutte is a solid option to grab after the Week 11 waiver wire runs.
Blake Corum (RB, Los Angeles Rams) | 15.9% rostered
In a Sean McVay system, the lead running back typically sees heavy usage, and that’s the opportunity for which Blake Corum has been waiting. Should he eventually step into the starting role, he’s primed for a massive workload, potentially 20-25 touches per game, similar to what Kyren Williams has seen. Williams has been a fantasy RB1 this season, even with middling advanced metrics, simply by volume alone.
If Williams were to go down, Corum could be the next back to benefit from McVay’s approach, making him an elite stash if you’re hunting for high-upside depth at the position. While the Michigan product’s lack of usage has been frustrating, he’s an exciting add in hopes of an expanded role in the coming weeks, especially if you’re poised for a playoff push.
