2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Betting Picks: Outrights
Corey Heim (+150)
The most dominant driver in the Trucks this year is Corey Heim, winner of six races in 2024. Heim has 13 T5s and 17 T10s this year and has been no worse than P11 in the last six races.
His last two Phoenix finishes have been P7 and P18; last year, Heim led 47 laps before being involved in a late-race incident.
On some of the other short tracks this year, Heim won at North Wilkesboro and Gateway but was outside the top 15 at both Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP) and Richmond. His other 2024 victories came at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Pocono and a Kansas sweep.
Christian Eckes (+300)
Though he hasn’t won as many races as Heim, Christian Eckes has been the most consistent driver in the Craftsman Truck Series this year. The No. 19 truck had 14 T5 finishes in 2024 and only finished one of 22 races outside the top 10; a DNF at Atlanta in the second race of the year is his lone blemish.
Eckes’s consistency has been remarkable. He’s been no worse than P9 since Charlotte in May, earning podium finishes in eight of 11 races since then and finishing no worse than P6 in all but one of those events. The New York native’s four wins mainly came on short tracks, winning at Bristol, Nashville and twice at Martinsville. That includes last weekend’s win at “The Paperclip,” where aggressive racing could result in a target on his back.
Regardless, Eckes should be strong in the championship race. He won this race last fall and has a trio of additional T10 finishes here.
Ty Majeski (+450)
Ty Majeski, a two-time winner in 2024, finds himself in the Championship 4 thanks to a strong year with ThorSport Racing. He’s earned nine T5 and 13 T10 finishes this year.
The No. 98 truck won both the IRP and Richmond races this year, giving major optimism for his Phoenix performance. However, Majeski’s three career starts in the desert have resulted in no T10s, finishing between P11 and P20 in each.
Majeski’s runner-up finish at Homestead a couple of weeks ago is his only T10 in the last four races, but just before that was a stretch of T10 runs in six of seven summer events.
Grant Enfinger (+1200)
Perhaps the biggest underdog equipment-wise, Grant Enfinger and CR7 Motorsports arguably come into this weekend as favorites in my book in all other aspects. The No. 9 truck has won two of the last three races, earning the team’s first victories at Talladega and Homestead.
Enfinger has seven T5 and 12 T10 finishes in 2024, including strong runs at shorter tracks comparable to Phoenix. He led 70+ laps on the way to P3 and P4 finishes at IRP and Richmond, respectively.
Enfinger has finished P6 the last two seasons in Phoenix, narrowly missing out on the title last year. In his career, Enfinger has also had an additional pair of Phoenix T10s.
