2023 Travelers Championship Best Bets (Outrights)

  • Jon Rahm (+1000)
  • Max Homa (+4000)
  • Austin Eckroat (+9000)

Jon Rahm (+1000)

I haven’t been lining up to play Rahm, but at 10-1, I think I’m ready to be hurt again. There are some signs of life in him but the putting and all-around short game have been touch and go. This is a much easier course than the last six weeks, so I expect Rahm to bounce back a bit in both of these categories. The greens at the Traveler’s Championship will be receptive and putting, though quick, won’t be near the lightning pace we have grown accustomed to. He does tend to putt better on slower surfaces, so I expect a significant improvement in that category. His overall approach game has stayed consistent, rating out fourth overall for me, and he’s still converting those approaches to birdies and avoiding bogeys.

I’m also not sold on Scottie Scheffler; he is suspect at best lately. He is in the mix and then gives strokes back in bunches. Rory McIlroy… well, he can’t close. Rahm, on the other hand, can close, and I think we see him storm the field and make a run at winning the 2023 Travelers Championship.

Max Homa (+4000)

Max Homa is another golfer that I have been off for weeks and weeks. This is still a risky bet, but his Par-4 scoring stats line up incredibly well with this course. The distances he excels at are all here. He is still managing to make birdies and avoid bogeys as poorly as he has been finishing. Admittedly, there are players I like just as much in that 40-1 range, but I will definitely take some shots at Homa here. I like how it sets up. The other interesting thing is that, though he just missed the cut at the US Open, his strokes-gained approach seems to be starting to trend upward, and his off-the-tee game is mirroring that. He is a risk of missing the cut, but if he is finding his game again, I want to be early and catch a good number.

Austin Eckroat (+9000)

I’ve taken a few shots at Austin Eckroat over the last eight tournaments, and they haven’t quite come to fruition just yet. Yet, he is on the verge of finding a breakthrough win. He hasn’t missed a cut since the Valero Texas Open and is fresh off a 10th-place finish at the US Open. He’s on a heater, and 90-1 seems like a mis-price on a golfer who is showing he has the goods to contend.

This might be a good T10 and T20 bet, as well. He has managed to crack the top 10 in three of his last eight starts with similar strength of field. He is in the top 14 for overall approach, plus accurate and long off the tee. In addition, Eckroat is in the top 10 for bogey avoidance and birdie-or-better rate. I like the trend he is on and he’s definitely worth a shot at these 2023 Travelers Championship odds.

Other 2023 Travelers Championship Bets to Strongly Consider:

  • Rory McIlroy (+1000)
  • Si Woo Kim (+4000)
  • Min Woo Lee (+7500)
  • Ludvig Aberg (+10000)
