2023 Barbasol Championship Best Bets (Outrights):

  • Peter Kuest (+2500)
  • Andrew Novak (+4000)
  • James Hahn (+6500)
  • Kevin Roy (+9000)

Peter Kuest (+2500)

My Peter Kuest love continues this week at the Barbasol Championship. Peter Kuest has been on fire and is well above the level of this field. He should be way shorter than 25/1 here! Keene Trace Golf Club is one of the easiest courses these golfers see on Tour. It is wide open. Kuest, bombing the ball in excess of 300 yards and already hitting the green in regulation 77% of the time, will continue making noise this week.

He has been in contention in the last four tournaments and has proven he is steadfast and confident at the PGA level. He makes birdies in bunches, which will be a must here. Over the last 24 rounds, no one is even close to Kuest. He is No. 1 in shots gained total, No. 3 in shots gained putting and No. 11 in shots gained on approach. This course will only pad those stats even more as this is, again, the easiest course he has played since May. This is a no-brainer. Grab it before it’s gone.

Andrew Novak (+4000)

I have dabbled with Andrew Novak off and on this year, and he has performed at times. He really hasn’t been in contention in elevated fields, but he does have two ninth-place finishes in lesser-field events this season. I like how he sets up for the Barbasol Championship. He bombs it at more than 300 yards per drive and rates out No.10 on approach for the last 24 rounds. He is a little under the radar. I like taking a couple of shots at 40/1, where he is going a bit overlooked.

James Hahn +(6500)

James Hahn seems like a very real value at 65/1. He is very capable of putting together four rounds of golf and winning the Barbasol Championship. He averages about 300 yards off the tee and has a greens-in-regulation rate of 68%. Those numbers will be exponentially better this week at Keene Trace, which is wide open and primed for birdie hunting. In his last appearance here, he gained almost four strokes off the tee and another four strokes on approach. This course suits his eye. I like Hahn in this lesser-field event.

Kevin Roy (+9000)

I’m not exactly sure how Kevin Roy is 90/1 in this field, but I’ll take it. We have been betting him in bigger and better fields at just slightly longer numbers almost every time he tees it up. He is an absolute stud on approach, rating out far and away No.1 in this field over the last 24 rounds. In addition, — you guessed it — he’s a bomber. 310-plus yards off the tee, and he’s accurate, rating out No. 9 in strokes gained off the tee.

This is the most obvious misprice I see on the board this week in the Barbasol Championship odds. He is every bit as good as Taylor Pendrith, Lucas Glover, Vincent Normann and Kuest, who all have numbers 25/1 and shorter. Admittedly, Kuest is still my favorite here. Still, if anyone down the board has an equal chance to win, it’s Roy at criminally long odds here!

Other Bets to Consider:

  • Lucas Glover (+2000)
  • Vincent Norman (+2200)
  • Peter Malnati (+5500)
  • Seung-yol Noh (+7000)
  • Cameron Percy (+10000)
