Arnold Palmer Invitational 2024 Betting Picks

Jordan Spieth (+2200)

Jordan Spieth is always live to compete in talented fields on tough courses. Spieth just finds a way. It’s not always pretty, but he keeps himself in contention. In two starts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, the University of Texas alum had finished T-4 twice. He also has more total strokes gained than anyone else in the field at this course with the exception of Kurt Kitayama.

Spieth is not known for accuracy off the tee, but at Bay Hill, it may not be a hindrance. The ability to club down may, in fact, be what has allowed him to play well here in his two starts. We all know he can be a wizard around the green and scrambling, and no one has been better in that regard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He gained 7.277 strokes scrambling and recovering here in 2023, which is not abnormal to see from Spieth. The form is better coming in this year, as well. Minus the untimely stomach issue that caused his DQ at The Genesis, Spieth has been on, and he has the weapons to take this field down!

Will Zalatoris (+3000)

Ever since starting the year with a missed cut at The Sony Open, Will Zalatoris has been on one hell of a comeback tour. There were a lot of questions for me about Zalatoris, given the nature of his back injury. Would he be able to be as good with a reworked swing? Would he be able to figure out his god-awful putting, having been away from the game and recovering? The answer to both appears to be a resounding yes.

Since his missed cut, “Willy Z” has a T34, T13 and a T2. He has silenced this critic, and I am happy to be back on board the train. Zalatoris’ approach game has been elite, gaining 5.28 strokes to the field at The Genesis in his last outing. His putter, which has always made me cringe, is 180 degrees from where he was pre-surgery. The switch to the long stick has done wonders for him. It appears to be getting better, too, with .889 strokes gained, followed by 1.86 and, then most recently, 2.28. The form is there, and it’s tough to poke any holes in his game currently!

Min Woo Lee (+3500)

I loved Min Woo Lee last week, and he almost came through on the outright, falling just short with a T2 finish. At the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, Lee did what I thought he might. He put the complete game together and excelled on approach, gaining 6.04 strokes to the field. When the conditions got more challenging, he ground it out as predicted. Going to a course that will demand the same type of mentality and grit encourages me to go right back to him.

Over the last 36 rounds Lee is gaining more total strokes than anyone else in this field at 2.36. That’s better than Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg, Justin Thomas and Spieth. He is currently in better form than the top players in the world. He is a sleeping giant and his time is now! Don’t be late on Lee!

Jake Knapp (+4500)

Jake Knapp is on fire right now! We knew this young man would come on strong, and he has delivered. It helps a ton that he’s so damn relatable. I almost want to bet on him every week; I just love watching the kid compete. In his last four starts, he has a T3, T28, a win and a T4. I’d say he has hit his stride.

Knapp is excelling at every aspect of the game right now and seems to be unaffected by the talent around him. He handled McIlroy’s presence with ease in the first two rounds at The Cognizant Classic. In his last two starts, he hasn’t lost strokes in any category and gained 8.67 and 15.02 in totality to the field in those starts.

I know he’s the new shiny thing, but this time around, it seems to be as advertised. I don’t think this is the week to miss out on Knapp season. You might also want to grab an outright for The Masters and a PGA Rookie of the Year future while you’re standing at the window. His odds are going to keep getting shorter, especially after he wins this week at Bay Hill.
