AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2024 Betting Picks

Max Homa (+1600)

Max Homa looks to be sustainably in form, and with double-digit odds, I’ll be in! In his last five starts, he hasn’t lost strokes in any category. The Southern California native has found some success at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am before. He gained almost 27 strokes to the field in the last five years at this tournament while finishing T7, T14 and T10. The West Coast swing is somewhere we see Homa pop each year, and he is playing some of the most consistent golf of his career.

Besides the excellent tee-to-green game right now, he is heading to Pebble Beach, where the greens are Poa, which is his best putting surface by far. Last week on Poa, he gained almost two strokes putting, which tied his second-best output dating all the way back to May.

Justin Thomas (+2200)

Blind faith and trusting your eyes doesn’t begin to scratch the surface on Justin Thomas this week. He is coming off of arguably one of his most difficult and disappointing seasons on Tour and heading to a course he hasn’t played since a missed cut back in 2019 at the U.S. Open.

“JT” is one of my favorite players, so I have some bias and we could be getting to the window early on him. Still, if he has truly found his game, we won’t see his odds this long too much longer. A third-place finish at The American Express showed some vintage Thomas, who was playing with confidence and striking the ball well enough to gain almost 12 strokes total for the week.

Don’t forget the 30-year-old is still one of the most elite approach players in the game with great creativity getting up and down when he needs to. He is another player who plays tough courses with less-than-perfect conditions better than the standard setups. His best-putting surface is also Poa, though he routinely gains on any surface. I think this may be our demonstration of Thomas’s return to dominance.

Russell Henley (+4500)

I’m glad to see Russell Henley back in the field this week. I have been betting him almost every week, going all the way back to The Masters, and he’s still knocking at the door. He has been incredibly consistent, and sooner or later, he will get a win. It’s coming. Henley leads this field in fairways gained over the last six months, and his approach game has been equally lethal.

One of the metrics I weighed heavier this week is Shots Gained Around-the-Green, which Henley is among the best in. Golfers will miss greens at Pebble Beach. The greens are some of the smallest on Tour. Still, Henley has the chops to get up and down to save par better than most in this field. He’s not a long hitter, but the two-course rotation this week features some of the shorter courses we will see. So where his length is sometimes a detriment, here it may be a weapon.

Beau Hossler (+5500)

Beau Hossler is my polarizing player for the week. I have such a hard time getting him right, but he is playing too well and setting up really nicely this week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Coming off of a sixth-place finish last week at the Farmers Insurance Open where he had one of his best approach and around-the-green weeks in over a year, his form is making a ton of sense. Hossler’s history here also lends itself to setting up well with a T11 last year and a third-place finish in 2022.

If there’s any cause for concern, it would be his putter. He has been uncharacteristically hot, but given his five strokes gained on Poa last week, I’m willing to bet he stays rolling at Pebble Beach.
