NFL Week 9 Player Prop Bets of the Week (2024)

Brock Bowers (TE, Las Vegas Raiders) | 70+ Receiving Yards (+105)

The standard receiving prop line for Brock Bowers is set at 66.5 yards, and I expect him to beat that easily against a soft Cincinnati zone defense. One quick check of the alternate line leads to a better payout to gamble on an additional 3.5 yards. Even with a healthy Jakobi Meyers (ankle), Bowers will still operate as the de facto No. 1 pas-catching option for Gardner Minshew.

The Bengals will line up to stuff Alexander Mattison while following their typical game plan of playing deep zone. That will leave the middle of the field ripe for Bowers’ picking. The former Georgia big man has gone over 70 yards in three of his last four and was targeted 32 times in that span. Not only will he reach 70-plus on catches alone, but he will also collect a hefty Yards After Catch (YAC) total. This bet plays to 73 yards.

DeVonta Smith (WR, Philadelphia Eagles) | Over 56.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Last week, DeVonta Smith was set at 55.5 yards. If you tailed, you saw him cash that easily with 85 yards and a touchdown on just six catches. More importantly, it didn’t come at the expense of fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown, who also topped 80 yards. There are enough yards through the air to go around in this offense.

That was against the Cincinnati Bengals, the 14th-ranked unit in passing yards allowed. This game sees Philadelphia squaring off with the Jaguars, who are No. 2 in passing yards surrendered with 2,272. That’s an average of nearly 300 yards per game. Saquan Barkley will surely get his rushing yards, but without many other options in the passing game, Smith and Brown should feast on the Jacksonville secondary. I would play this at 57.5 yards, as well.

Zay Flowers (WR, Baltimore Ravens) | Under 50.5 Receiving Yards

Zay Flowers is an ultimate boom/bust proposition for Baltimore in 2024. In four games this season, he’s gone over 90 yards receiving. Those games were tilts with powerhouses like Las Vegas, Cincinnati, Washington and Cleveland. He maxed out at 37 yards in four other contests and posted as little as 11 yards at Tampa Bay on Oct. 21.

Several factors are working against Flowers at home on Sunday. Quarterback Lamar Jackson is dealing with back and knee injuries and may not be at full strength. The Ravens just added Diontae Johnson to their receiving corps, who will likely cut into Flowers’ target share. Baltimore is also hosting the Broncos and their fourth-ranked pass defense. Flowers will likely get the Patrick Surtain treatment, as he generally shadows the team’s top wideout. This is a recipe for disaster for the streaky Boston College receiver. I do not, however, recommend taking it below 50 yards.

Best of luck with all of your bets this weekend. Brick by brick, we build!
