Week 12 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

by Matt Kelley

This is it. The fantasy football trade deadline bell tolls for thee (and me). It’s time to push our chips in and hope that luck is ever in our favor down the stretch run of the fantasy football season. Let’s get into it with this week’s top targets.

Week 12 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

Trade For: Jauan Jennings (WR, San Fransisco 49ers)

In 2024, at the buzzer, Jauan Jennings should be a fantasy trade target for teams in the hunt for a championship. I didn’t think I’d ever write that, but here we are.

Since returning from injury, Jennings has been an essential cog in the San Francisco 49ers’ offense. In the last two weeks, he’s racked up 17 catches for 184 yards and a touchdown. You may be thinking, “Hold up, I’ve seen this before,” and that Jennings has had these sorts of games before, but they haven’t precisely been prescriptive. I understand, but let me tell you why this time is different.

Jennings has a target share of at least 32% in three games as a full-time player. He’s commanding nearly a third of the team’s targets on the field. That is outrageous. Even more outrageous is that his average in those games is 29.3 Points Per Reception (PPR) points. Jennings isn’t a luxury for the 49ers any longer; he’s a necessity for this offense.

Without Brandon Aiyuk and potentially without George Kittle for a while, Jennings can be a league-winner. On ESPN, he’s rostered in 68% of leagues. If you’re in one of those leagues where Jennings is available, he’s worth your remaining Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB). If he’s rostered, do what you can to acquire him via trade. It’s the time of year to call your shot; go get Jennings.

Trade Away: Xavier Worthy (WR, Kansas City Chiefs)

Xavier Worthy has finished two games in the last month with over 10 fantasy points. This past Sunday, he had four catches for 61 yards and a score and added seven rushing yards. However, all of his receiving production came in the first half.

Worthy has had a difficult time putting together a complete game, and there are signs that he still isn’t the polished wide receiver that the Chiefs Kingdom had hoped he might become. In watching the Chiefs game specifically, Worthy earned a deep target from Mahomes, which was great to see, but he only got one foot in bounds. This target wasn’t some overly complex catch; Worthy was nearly wide-open. To be clear, I’m not the guy saying, “I could have caught that.” I am nowhere near registering as an NFL athlete. However, after that incompletion, the Chiefs’ drive stalled, and Worthy was silent in the second half.

The Alabama product is boom-bust with minimal boom and a lot of potential to bust. He isn’t the type of variance you want to introduce to your squad. Capitalize on this output, trade him away and let someone else step into this fantasy football trap.

Trade Radar: Rome Odunze (WR, Chicago Bears)

It’s been tough sledding for the Chicago Bears in 2024, and with another loss on Sunday, Chicago is essentially gearing up for 2025. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze are the franchise’s future and should have an opportunity to continue building their connection.

Much like the Chiefs’ Worthy, Odunze has experienced his share of ups and downs with fantasy production. Over the last month, he’s scored over 12 fantasy points twice and under 8.5 points twice. If you dig past Odunze’s box score, though, his ability for a late-season breakout might be more sticky than Worthy’s.

In the last three games, Odunze has either had the most targets for the Bears or the most receptions. Williams hit Odunze on a back shoulder throw in the fourth quarter and on fourth down Sunday, putting the Bears into Packers territory.

Upon reviewing that play, it’s evident that Williams had a clear target in mind on the most crucial play of the Bears’ season so far. Over the next five weeks, the Bears face the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions twice. The Lions and Vikings are bottom-five in fantasy points allowed to the wide receiver position. Make Odunze your final fantasy football trade target of the season and reap the rewards.
