Week 10 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

by Matt Kelley

The fantasy football playoffs are approaching, and it’s the worst time to rest on your laurels. Is your team 9-0? That’s fantastic. 8-1? Great. Leading the league in points? Awesome. It’s all the more reason to make trades and stay ahead of your league. There’s no better way to do that than to target some rookies. Let’s get into it with our top Week 10 fantasy football trade targets!

Week 10 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

Trade For: Ladd McConkey (WR, Los Angeles Chargers)

Rookie WR Ladd McConkey, a potential game-changer, has quietly led the Los Angeles Chargers’ WR room in target share since Week 3. In Week 9, McConkey once again led the way with an impressive 25.9% of the team’s targets. In eight games played this season, he has gone over 10 fantasy points in half, including each of the last two weeks.

The more exciting part for McConkey is that the Chargers are starting to turn to Justin Herbert more than many may have thought back in August. Herbert has notched over 30 pass attempts in three of their last four games. The fourth was this past week, during which Herbert only had 27 attempts, but the Chargers were up multiple scores on the Browns by halftime and didn’t have a lot of reason to continue throwing the ball.

McConkey is rostered in 82% of ESPN leagues but was only started in just over 40% of leagues in Week 9. That’s tough to believe, given his Week 8 output, but that tells me fantasy managers aren’t sure when they want to start McConkey and may be open to trading him away. The Chargers have matchups down the stretch with the Ravens, Falcons and Buccaneers, who are all bottom-seven in the league in fantasy points allowed to the receiver position. The rookie could be the boost you need to get into the postseason.

Trade Away: Drake Maye (QB, New England Patriots)

Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye has been excellent and looks to be the future of the position for New England. In his three full starts this season, Maye scored 18.7, 20.8 and 22.5 fantasy points, and in less than half a game against the Jets, he had already accumulated 11.5 fantasy points.

So why trade away the rookie now? This is a strategic move looking at the remaining schedule and what lies ahead for the Patriots. They take on the Chicago Bears in Week 11 and while they are not a good team, they have given up the fewest fantasy points to the quarterback all season. They’ve given up five passing touchdowns and allow just over 10 fantasy points per game to the position.

But that’s just one matchup, right? Sure, but the Patriots have a bye in Week 14, so no matter what, you’ll need a pivot option that week. Weeks 16 and 17 include the Chargers and Bills, both of whom are bottom-seven matchups against QBs.

Maye’s future is bright, especially for fantasy. He’s proven he’s got dual-threat ability, and he’s making the most of his surrounding cast. This move is purely about what you can get in return for Maye and his upcoming schedule in the fantasy playoffs, not the talent. Capitalize while the hype is peaked.

Trade Radar: Xavier Legette (WR, Carolina Panthers)

Hold your horses! The Panthers may have stumbled into their future WR1. Rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette is starting to round into form and take over the Panthers’ receiver room.

In three games played with QB Bryce Young, Legette has gotten at least an 18.4% target share. This week, Legette commanded 23.1% of targets with the departure of Diontae Johnson, even though he also missed part of the contest due to what looked like a wrist injury.

The yardage hasn’t been there for Legette thus far, but the touchdowns have; he hasn’t topped 66 yards all season but has five touchdowns, including one in each of his last three games. Much like his fellow rookie McConkey, Legette has a pretty even split with games over/under 10 fantasy points (five to the under).

It’s been tough to trust a Panthers receiver in 2024. Diontae Johnson had his stretch of good games with QB Andy Dalton, and that’s been the only stretch during which you’ve wanted to start a Carolina receiver, at least with any confidence.

The Panthers have a bye in Week 11, and teams often use the bye week to establish some fundamental changes. I expect Legette and Young to continue building their chemistry, and they could end up “hotter than blazes” for the most critical weeks of fantasy football. Legette should be a top fantasy football trade target before the playoffs.
