Week 7 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

by Matt Kelley

Every Monday morning, I write this article while I am having coffee. This week, I decided to drink 24 ounces of water before having said coffee. Let me tell you, that’s dumb. I’m 50% less happy and 100% less caffeinated. Don’t be like me. Grab your coffee; let’s make some trades before Week 7 of the fantasy football season is here!

Week 7 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

Trade For: Brian Thomas Jr.  (WR, Jacksonville Jaguars)

Rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. is a player with immense potential, and he’s one of my highest-rostered players across all fantasy football formats. So far, he’s been a revelation, outperforming his Average Draft Position (ADP) all season.

After back-to-back games of at least five catches and 86 yards, Thomas Jr. struggled Sunday, seeing his fewest targets in a month with six and his lowest yardage output on the season at 27 yards.

But if you see that in the box score or fantasy point total, it’s pretty deceptive to what happened in the game. Thomas Jr. was underthrown on a go route, where he had a defender beat by a country mile. Uncharacteristically, he also dropped a pass that hit him in the hands in the end zone towards the end of the game. Pain.

The 6-foot-5 LSU product is a fantasy stud, and managers shouldn’t be worried. His performance in Week 6, where he led the Jaguars in routes run for the first time in his career, is a testament to his potential. Thomas Jr. already ranks 31st amongst all WRs in ESPN’s open score, which tracks how open a WR is on their routes through a game. And after watching him have a spot of tea while waiting for the ball to be delivered from Trevor Lawrence in the Week 6 London game, he’s likely to continue climbing the ranks.

If a team in your league is struggling and has “BTJ,” this performance may make them feel like they need to shake up their roster, and he’s a great fantasy football trade target.

Trade Away: Mark Andrews (TE, Baltimore Ravens)

Mark Andrews got into the end zone for the first time this season against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. I’m unsure if you had the nerve to start Andrews, but if you did, congratulations. Andrews had three catches and 66 yards to go along with that score, and with how scoring is going overall at the tight end position this season in fantasy, that’s a tremendous day.

While Andrews ended with a solid stat line, he only played 51% of the Ravens’ snaps and was tied with fellow TE Isaiah Likely with four targets. His usage has been baffling and frustrating to fantasy managers alike. Coming into Week 6, Andrews had run fewer routes than Brenton Strange, Colby Parkinson and Cade Otton. Yikes. While routes run aren’t everything, Andrews has also run only half the amount of routes as his aforementioned teammate Likely. Andrews’ role is shaping up to be different this season than the rest of his career.

It’s October, so break out that Ouija board and ask the fantasy spirits from the great beyond if anyone in your league believes this is Andrews’s turning point for the season. Once you’ve identified that manager (and burned that board), package Andrews plus a player to upgrade at another position.

Trade Radar: Tyrone Tracy Jr. (RB, New York Giants)

“Sunday Night Football” featured the New York Giants against the Cincinnati Bengals. The game began with a long touchdown run from Bengals QB Joe Burrow. But after that, it was a stinker, ending with a Bengals’ win and a final score of 17-7.

The Giants’ lone touchdown came from rookie RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. He played 84% of the Giants’ snaps and tallied 17 carries for 50 yards; he also caught all six of his targets for another 57 yards. Heading into “Monday Night Football,” he is the Points Per Reception (PPR) RB5 on the week, and this performance comes only a week after Tracy torched the Seattle Seahawks for 129 yards on the ground.

As unwatchable as the Giants can be, we’ve pinpointed where their fantasy production has come from this season: Malik Nabers (when healthy), Wan’ Dale Robinson and Devin Singletary. Daniel Jones has also had some productive games, but that’s the Daniel Jones experience.

With Singletary out the last two games, Tracy Jr. has been a bell-cow back and has looked like the better of the two players. So that begs the question:  What will Tracy Jr.’s role be when Singletary returns healthy? Of course, like with any NFL coaching staff, you can never assume with your fantasy football heart that they will play the player you want. But it’s possible that Tracy Jr. has played his way into a role and could take over this backfield even when Singletary is back, making him a great speculative fantasy football trade target.
