The Olympics 2024 Betting Picks
Scottie Scheffler (+350)
What is there to say? Scottie Scheffler is the best player in the world, and it’s not really up for debate. The number is very short, but the likelihood of him continuing his reign at the top shows no signs of slowing. He has an incredible ability to control his distance, and hit shots to spots will come in very handy here. Le Golf National is a second-shot course, and no one in the world is better on approach or sticks it closer than Scheffler. Every part of his game is rock solid. In one of the most dominant seasons of golf in recent memory I think Scheffler continues rolling this week right to the top of the podium.
Collin Morikawa (+1000)
Collin Morikawa is close and has been close for some time now. Will he peak at just the right time in Paris this week? If anyone in this field can rise up and surpass Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, it’s him. Morikawa is one of the most elite ball strikers on the planet. He’s not the longest hitter, but his accuracy more than makes up for that.
The biggest question marks early in the season center around his putter, but those questions seem to have been answered in the form of gaining almost three strokes per start in his last five outings. He is in the top 10 for every single metric I looked at this week for the 2024 Paris Olympics Golf Competition. The form coming in is undeniable. The triple threat of Scheffler, Schauffele and Morikawa may land a clean sweep of the podium!
Tom Kim (+2500)
Tom Kim is a longer shot, given the mixed results heading into Paris. There is an “it” factor with Kim, though. He has a different energy when pride is on the line. He gets electrified and rises to the occasion. If you need proof, go look at clips from the 2022 Presidents Cup. Kim is also a very good fit for this course; Less distance and more accuracy, which is his game. He is a second-shot course specialist, and few are as deadly with irons as he is.
The South Korean rates out third in this field in opportunities gained and will have plenty of looks at birdie. The short game has been solid despite having a relatively flat putting gain this season. He can spike with a hot putter and that may be the only thing he needs a slight uptick in to upset the projected U.S. dominance in Paris.
