Week 4 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

by Matt Kelley

If your fantasy team looks more “mid” than “splendid” heading into Week 4, it might be time to shake things up with a trade. Luckily, not only is it fall, but it’s that magical point we get in every fantasy football season when desperate managers start throwing out offers like they’re candy at a parade. Are parades still a thing? Nonetheless, you get it; it’s time to make moves. Let’s get after it with my Week 4 fantasy football trade targets!

Week 4 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)

Trade For: Alvin Kamara (RB, New Orleans Saints)

Sometimes, in fantasy football, you must acquire superstars, not just underperforming players. At 29 years old, Alvin Kamara is currently the overall Points Per Reception (PPR) RB2. He’s a superstar. Again.

Kamara has been a staple in fantasy lineups since 2017. In his career, Kamara has never finished worse than RB13 overall on a points-per-game basis. Last year, Kamara was suspended to start the season and was the overall RB3 in points per game once he returned. What were we all doing this summer, letting Kamara drop into the middle rounds? Being silly geese, that’s what.

The Tennessee product has gotten no fewer than 20 touches in a single game this season and has not gone under 15.7 fantasy points. Not only is Kamara getting the volume, but he’s game-script-proof. Are the Saints winning? Great, let Kamara run out the clock. Are the Saints behind? Fantastic, let Derek Carr dump it off to Kamara in the flat a billion times. In Week 3, Kamara displayed just that by having 87.9% of the backfield opportunity share. He’s a beast.

I’m not worried about the Saints’ schedule, nor am I concerned that Carr turned back into a pumpkin this past week. I am only worried about not having Kamara on my roster.

Trade Away: Davante Adams (WR, Las Vegas Raiders)

Losing to the Carolina Panthers with 36-year-old Andy Dalton under center is probably not what the Las Vegas Raiders fan base expected heading into Week 3. Even as a Carolina Panthers fan, it was also not what I expected.

After the game, per News 3 Las Vegas’ Jesse Merrick, wide receiver Davante Adams said: “We gotta find a way to get going and keep it going… if we just keep trying to do things that don’t work, we’re just gonna kill time and opportunities to be great.”

In his post-game press conference, per Ari Meirov, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce stated, “As the game went on, there were some individuals who made business decisions, so we’ll make business decisions going forward as well.”

Huh.

The honeymoon phase in Las Vegas is over, and tension between staff and players could be building.

Even if we take a hard exit off Narrative Street, there are plenty of reasons to trade Adams away right now. While he’s been accurate, quarterback Gardner Minshew has only thrown three touchdowns in as many weeks. Minshew has completed nearly 74% of his passes this season, but his career mark of 63.3% indicates that some regression may be coming.

Along with Minshew’s regression, the Raiders’ schedule includes the Browns, Broncos, Steelers, Rams and Chiefs over the next five weeks. That will be tough sledding and the rollercoaster season for Adams will continue. Find a leaguemate who still believes in the name and jump off this janky thrill ride.

Trade Radar: Rico Dowdle (RB, Dallas Cowboys)

Fantasy managers spent the offseason wondering who the lead running back would be for the Dallas Cowboys. The answer through three weeks is… kind of no one.

Week 3 marked the second straight game in which running back Rico Dowdle led the Cowboys’ backfield in carries and targets. While there wasn’t a ton of production to be had out of those touches, it’s worth noting that Dowdle played 46% of the team’s snaps on Sunday, more than double the mark of teammate Ezekiel Elliott

Dallas’ schedule doesn’t provide a ton of favorable matchups in the near future, but they do play the New York Giants on Thursday night. The Giants gave up 94 yards on the ground to Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones in Week 1 and 171 yards in Week 2 to the Washington Commanders’ duo of Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler.

It’s worth watching Dowdle’s usage to see if the Cowboys will lean on him more and if they’re phasing out Elliott.
