I’ve loved, and at times hated, playing fantasy football for the last 20 years. I fell in love with this stupid game when I was a student at Western Carolina University. This past week, in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we learned about the devastation in western North Carolina. It’s historic. Entire towns have been swept away. People are still missing, others gone. Lives forever changed.

There’s no great way to transition and say, “Let’s talk about fantasy football trades,” but…
Let’s get after it with the best Week 6 fantasy football trade targets.
Week 6 Fantasy Football Trade Targets (2024)
Trade For: Terry McLaurin (WR, Washington Commanders)
The Washington Commanders are 4-1, leading the NFC East, and it appears they have found their franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels. I would tell you to trade for Daniels, but short of outright bribery, I don’t think you can acquire him at this point. You can, however, acquire his No. 1 target, wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
McLaurin has been frustrating for fantasy managers over his career, but to be clear, that’s no fault of his own. McLaurin has had possibly the worst lineage of quarterback play since coming into the league. However, with Daniels now setting the league on fire, “F1” is finding some success.
McLaurin has consistently delivered in every game since Week 1, managing to rack up at least four catches or 100 yards through the air. His most recent performance, during which Daniels found him streaking down the sideline for 66 yards, is a testament to his big play potential. If McLaurin scored there, he’s probably unattainable. Lucky for you (unless you already have him on your squad), you still have a trade window.
McLaurin has boasted double-digit fantasy points in his last three contests. The Commanders take on the Ravens, Panthers, Bears and Giants over the next month. He’s set to be a fantasy stud.
Trade Away: Garrett Wilson (WR, New York Jets)
Across the pond in London, WR Garrett Wilson had his best game of the 2024 campaign. He had an astounding 22 targets, leading to 13 catches for 101 yards and a score. Wilson was the ace for your fantasy football team, finally.
While all of that is good for a single day of fantasy football production, it’s likely an outlier, and the bigger realization of the season is that the Jets are just a train wreck. Asking any wide receiver to amass 20-plus targets in a given week is unrealistic. Even with that many targets, historically, Wilson was underwhelming:
Garrett Wilson had 22 targets this morning.
Per @ESPNStatsInfo, his 101 receiving yards is the second-lowest for any pass-catcher with 20+ targets in a game (since 2006)
The lowest? 79 yards on 21 targets for Davante Adams in 2015 (his QB was also Aaron Rodgers)
— Benjamin Solak (@BenjaminSolak) October 6, 2024
QB Aaron Rodgers looks beaten up and demoralized. Rodgers has stayed down on the field multiple times this season in pain from taking a hit, most recently to his left knee this past week. Even at 100%, it’s clear Wilson and Rodgers have yet to find the same chemistry that Rodgers displayed with Davante Adams in years past.
Speaking of Adams, whom I suggested you trade away a couple of weeks ago, he’s currently dealing with a “hamstring injury” while demanding a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s widely known that Adams would like to reunite with his old QB Rodgers in New York, which would crowd the room for Wilson.
While I’ll leave where Adams eventually lands to the trading Gods, should it be in New York, Wilson will face a severe threat to the target share he desperately needs to be a fantasy football superstar. This potential change in the team dynamic is something to keep in mind when considering Wilson’s future performance.
Trade Radar: Tank Bigsby (Jacksonville Jaguars)
For the first time in his career, running back Tank Bigsby out-snapped teammate Travis Etienne Jr. The Auburn product also outpaced Etienne in total opportunities, 14-13. Ruh-roh. That differs from what fantasy managers thought they were getting when drafting Etienne.
Some red flags in this backfield are starting to pile up throughout the season. Etienne hasn’t rushed for over 68 yards in a single game; Bigsby has eclipsed 73 yards on the ground in three games, including 101 against the Colts on Sunday. Etienne hasn’t had a run over 22 yards through the first five games. On the other hand, Bigsby led the league into Week 5 in breakaway run rate (runs over 20 yards) and added to that with a 65-yard scamper in which he stiff-armed a defender into another universe.
At this point in the fantasy season, we’re looking for situations where the tide could turn. This situation appears to be one of them, though it’s worth noting that Etienne has been playing through a shoulder injury. Hence, it’s difficult to say if the opportunity for Bigsby is sticky or if the Jaguars are trying to manage the punishment he’s taking. Either way, Bigsby is making the most of his chances, and the tide may shift in his favor as the season wears on. The uncertainty of this situation makes it an intriguing one to monitor.
